Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Arrives At The Dawn Of Spring

by Matt Miller on Aug 31, 2015 at 11:30 AM

If you are eagerly anticipating Nathan Drake’s next adventure, then you can now mark your calendar for March 18, 2016, just two days before spring is officially sprung. That’s the day that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is set to launch on PS4. In addition, if you’re an especially big fan, you can now make a decision regarding whether one of the more expensive editions of the game is right for you.

Sony has detailed a bevy of pre-order options, so strap in.

If you’d like more than the $59.99 game, a $79.99 Special Edition of the game includes the Blu-ray disc, a collectible steelbook case, a 48-page hardcover art book, a sticker sheet, and a pack of in-game currency for use in purchasing multiplayer content.

For the true connoisseurs, $119.99 will net you a hoard of treasure as part of the Libertalia Collector’s Edition, including everything that is part of the special edition above, plus a 12” Nathan Drake figure from Gentle Giant, three multiplayer outfits and two weapon skins, along with a ball cap and Madagascar sidekick outfits.

You thought we were done, but we’re not.

The digital deluxe edition includes a digital copy of Uncharted 4, as well as what Sony is calling the Triple Pack, a set of upcoming content akin to what many companies have called a season pass. With the Triple Pack, you get future access to a single-player story add-on and two future multiplayer packs that unlock rare and legendary items. In addition, the digital deluxe edition includes two undetailed multiplayer-customization items.

Players who want to buy the Triple Pack separately can do so for $20, an offer that is also available to folks who have already pre-ordered.

I wish I could tell you that's everything, but there's so much more.

Sony has also revealed that anyone who pre-orders any version of Uncharted 4, whether digital or physical, will also get a bonus pack that includes the original Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune multiplayer customization options, the golden weapon customization, and a pack of Naughty Dog Points for use in multiplayer.

If you’re still reading, then it’s clear that you care deeply about Uncharted 4. And so, I’m happy to tell you that Sony is also exploring separate pre-order bonuses for different retailers, on top of everything listed above.

Pre-order at GameStop, and you get a Multiplayer Booster Pack that includes a bunch of one-time multiplayer boosts, as well as a special dagger inspired by Uncharted 2. [Disclaimer: GameStop is the parent company of Game Informer]

Assign your pre-order to Amazon, and you pick up a Snow Camo weapon customization along with a reskin of Drake in multiplayer that has the intrepid explorer decked out for desert discovery.

Turn in your pre-order through the PlayStation Store, and you get an Uncharted 4 Dynamic Theme to grace your PS4’s home screen, along with some desert weapon customization options in multiplayer.

Our Take
That’s too many pre-order bonuses for me to keep straight without a reference guide (which I’ve just written for you). It seems like a lot of options to ask your consumer to keep track of. Nonetheless, it’s clear that Naughty Dog and Sony are hoping that multiplayer cosmetic items are intriguing enough to fuel some big pre-order numbers. For my part, they had me at "new game from Naughty Dog."
