Final Fantasy 16 Is No Longer a PS5 Console Exclusive, Gets Superb Artwork to Celebrate

Very happy more people will be able to experience XVI! Pretty underrated game, in my opinion.

Launch will still disappoint SE. As team Xbox historically doesn’t care for JRPGs as much. So they better keep their expectations realistic for final fantasy.

Hopefully the game will finally meet Square's "sales expectations" now. They're running out of things/people to blame.

Doubt they will even recoup their porting costs ,it's not on gamepass and it costs 50$ for a 2 year old game.If the switch 2 was more powerful it would have made more sense to port it there.

@Nepp67 I can't speak authoritatively on other FF games, as XVI is the only one I've ever finished, but I thought it was fantastic! They drop the F bomb so much it's comical, but I did appreciate the slightly more mature tone to the dialog. In prior FF titles, the script really was a barrier for me to get too into them.

I'm glad people like it, but it's not for me. I now understand how many must have felt when VII came along. This is just so unlike what came before that i find it very difficult to accept as an FF title.

Still one of my favorite FF artists and artists in general and I hope he gets to do another mainline entry and some spin offs

And something tells me the last part of ff7's remake will be the last timed exclusive ever for FF 😂. Unless they broke their deal already since the 1st part is now going to other platforms after all

Why would anyone BUY a game on Xbox at this point? Unless you're already roped into their ecosystem I guess. Xbox as a console is basically Betamax or HD-DVD.

Also FFXVI is the best FF I've played in a LONG time, probably since VII-X era.

Now Xbox players to get experience the god awful side quests this game has to offer, all the budget was used on the boss fights (while amazing some of them were drawn out imo)

@wildcat_kickz No they didn't drop it that frequently unless it was in high intense situations really. I've never enjoyed the other FF games too much though, especially FF7 remake since it had such awkward clunkiness to it and annoying pacing.

Very happy for Xbox players, I really liked its story and its general vibe (but not its game play thought).

But my main question is : where is the PS5 PRO patch humanity deserves ? I want to replay this adventure with a proper 60 fps and a pristine image quality...

So when you guys changing the site name to PushX?

@tangyzesty i think a lot of kids and teenagers have xboxes because their parents bought them a series s; when i googled “xbox most played games (the us site)” and saw the kind of games that are at the top, it made sense.

I’m happy to see that Xbox gamers get the chance to play FFXVI and VII Remake Intergrade now.
It’s kinda strange though with the post a few years ago which said in that SH2 Remake, FFVII remakes and FFXVI wouldn’t be released onto Xbox though

Very true but World of FF should get more recognition though it’s still one of my favourite FF’s.
I loved FFXVI but XII still beats it my opinion

I don't think it's expected to sell much. Xbox likely just paid them for it so they could have the optics. With expedition 33, oblivion and metaphor all recently on game pass I don't think FF 16 has any chance this far outside it's release window fomo

1-this game being on 1 console is just stupid more platforms mean more sales
2-this one is the typical SE bs because in a few months they will say the game didn't meet expectations
3-the cycle repeats

it will be interesting to see game sales for this game on xbox if we ever get them..

I wouldn't be surprised if the fee Sony paid Square Enix to make this a timed exclusive is more than what they make in Xbox sales.

Absolutely loved it. Finished it twice once in final fantasy mode and got the platinum. One of the best games in years for me.

Great more people can play it. Maybe now the hate and slander from media will stop. Already annoyed with the usual people demanding it be in gamepass when its only $50 including dlc.

It’s a solid game, despite performance issues and some rather bland side quests (here, take this item to that peasant standing over there. ~Side quest Complete~). I’m vastly more interested whether the Team Green fanbase will put their money where there whining, anti-exclusive mouth is. FF16 isn’t on Pay-to-rent pass, so the only option is to plunk down cold, hard cash. If it doesn’t sell, what will their excuse be? Who will Square blame for lackluster sales if their ‘multiplatform push’ golden boy doesn’t pan out?

Massive disappointment personally. For every good part, there were about 15 issues with the game. Still, more people getting to play it is a good thing.

@Oram77 That was my biggest issue with 16. It started out so strong up until the end of the demo. From there though it was an absolute slog at times. If you could streamline the experience and get rid of all the padding it would be a pretty good game overall.

@PlaystationPortalFan maybe not FF16 unless CBU3 does tremendous effort to port it over...but perhaps FF15 for Switch 2? I just think there should be no more reasons for it to not get ported there.

I don't think that PS5 exclusivity is what hold the game back sales wise. Hope I'm wrong though, happy more people got the chance to play it.

If it can run on Series S then it could run on switch 2. They are porting over FF7 remake and rebirth. I don't see why they wouldn't do 16 as well

@nomither6 you are absolutely right about that. Right after I read your comment, in my head I said "what, is it like Roblox, Minecraft, Fortnite & Rocket League or something" and then I took your advice and looked and well...yeah.

Fair artwork, fair time for Square to expand their platforms after their particular deals of some to Switch, some to Xbox, some to PS5 only, some to PC, or some remakes to Forever Entertainment like Front Mission remakes.

Always unfortunate when Xbox players have to wait as long as they do but at least they had plenty of the other Final Fantasy games or Square games to experience even if not FF7 or FF16 they may have wanted and had to wait this long for. Finally they get to experience these games though. Enjoy.
