Rushing Beat X: Return of the Brawl Brothers, the contemporary beat-‘em-up successor to Rival Turf, will raise its fists to the PS5 – although a release date has yet to be announced.
The title was previously only confirmed for the PC, but a console conversion always seemed inevitable. You can try a new demo on Steam right now if you want to.
The game, a successor to Jaleco’s 90s SNES outing, plots the return of protagonists Rick Norton and Douglas Bild – who you may know by their localised names, Jack Flak and Oozie Nelson respectively – as well as a couple of new playable characters.

“Mastering the unique fighting style of each fighter is the key to success, with more unlocking more as you progress through the game,” reads the blurb.
“Two-player co-op adds a further layer of strategy, and fun: mix and match characters and find the perfect team!”
There’s also a culinary aspect to the gameplay, where you can mix and match different ingredients to create status boosting meals.
We went hands-on with this one at the Taipei Game Show earlier in the year, and found it a little bit stiff, especially compared to the vastly superior Double Dragon Revive. But the demo was early, so hopefully it comes together before launch.

Proper 90's nostalgia with the side scrolling beat me ups' love it, we're on a pretty good run with them between Turtles, Power Rangers, Scott Pilgrim on the way and now this!!
Looks like The Takeover.
I swapped my Megadrive for a SNES (for a week) with a cousin. He got Streets of Rage 2, I got Rival Turf... he absolutely got the better end of the deal.
Seriously , snes rival turf is one of my all time favourite games , so I'm super stoked to see this !
I hated those Jaleco beat em up games back on the SNES. They were and still are… whack. Can’t say I’m looking forward to this new one either.
This looks terrible, no pixel art as usual, everything looks wooden. I'll wait for marvel cosmic invasion thanks.
