A Mega Yarn Yoshi Amiibo (And Others) Have Release Dates

by Mike Futter on Aug 24, 2015 at 03:12 AM

In addition to a nearly complete list of first-party releases for Wii U and 3DS, Nintendo has shared when you’ll be able to fight for upcoming Amiibos. The information we received also includes a $40 large Yarn Yoshi amiibo, making it the most expensive Amiibo yet… unless you look at eBay.

Here’s what’s coming up over the next few months:

  • Mii Fighters (3-Pack) - November 1, $34.99
  • Mewtwo - November 13, $12.99
  • Mega Yarn Yoshi - November 15, $39.99 (Activates Double Yoshi in Yoshi’s Woolly World)
  • Falco - November 20, $12.99

Are you still on the Amiibo hype train, or has scarcity driven you off?

Our Take
I’ve given up on trying to get Amiibos at retail after the absolute catastrophe that crashed point-of-sale systems and forced some retailers to stealthily open pre-orders in the middle of the night. I love having them, and the designs are getting better, but it’s just not worth the hassle. Hopefully Nintendo will enable a Amiibo-locked content in games like Code Name S.T.E.A.M. without the figures.
