The Daily Grind: Could The Secret World survive as a single-player game?

Most MMOs would make terrible single-player games by virtue of their scope and design. Take multiplayer out of it and most of us would agree that these titles would be much less for the move.

However, I can’t help but think that I’d rather see a single-player adaptation of The Secret World than to lose it forever if Funcom truly does collapse. In fact, it could make one heck of an adventure game as long as combat was retuned so that a single player could solo through the entire game. Even without the raids and dungeons, it would be a title worth preserving in a SRPG format.

What do you think? Could and should The Secret World be thinking about a single-player variant to keep the code alive in the event of the studio closing?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
