Prey PS4 PlayStation

As we all come to terms with the news that Microsoft has shuttered several of its studios, including Arkane Austin, some are taking the news harder than others. Case in point: A Prey fan account that has been tweeting about the hoped-for sequel for 2,560 days straight has now fallen ominously silent. The final post bleakly proclaims that: "This isn't a dream. It's a nightmare. (Day 2,560)"

2,560 days, which amounts to just over seven years, is an incredibly long time to be tweeting about a game, and so it's sad to see how this particular story has ended. The account's (called Has Prey 2 Been Announced Yet?) sole purpose was "counting the days it has been since Prey's release with no sequel announcement."

The vast majority of posts stick to a simple format: "No", followed by the number of days since Prey's release. Things took a turn for the dramatic yesterday when the account changed its tune, pronouncing: "It's over. (Day 2,559)". At the time of this writing, 2,560 days since Arkane Austin released Prey, the account has just posted what appears to be its final missive, thanking the community for the recent uptick in support, asking that they continue to support Arkane Lyon and their favourite "imsim" (immersive sim) creators.

Are you sad to see Has Prey 2 Been Announced Yet throw in the towel and call it a day? Are hopes for a Prey sequel truly dead, or does Arkane Lyon's continued existence keep the dream alive? Let us know in the comments section below.
