The Nancy Drew game series (yes, it’s real) is back with Game 34 | Kaser Focus

So the good news first: We’re getting a new Nancy Drew game after several years of waiting! Now hold it right there. If you’re going to tell me that you weren’t aware that a Nancy Drew video game series even existed — trust me, I’ve heard that before. Despite being one of the longest-running game series out there (it began in 1998 and at one point two games a year were coming out), the Nancy Drew series remains relatively obscure. However, Her Interactive came out with a new trailer for the next game in the series, the thirty-fourth title, Mystery of the Seven Keys.

In the latest game, intrepid detective Nancy Drew must go to Prague to discover the fate of a stolen necklace. I haven’t yet played the game, but I’m going to assume this mystery leads to an even deeper mystery involving the shady underbelly of Prague — you know, the usual ND shenanigans. Technically the news dropped last week, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t give attention to the game series that practically raised me — the game series that got me through my years between playing primarily on PS1 and getting an Xbox 360. I was a little neophyte PC gamer just getting started in the world, and what do I find? An adventure game based on 9-year-old me’s favorite books.

In other news this week, we’re not going to get BlizzCon this year. I’m anticipating at least some of Blizzard’s reveals are going to be shifted to Summer Game Fest, if Xbox has its own showcase again. Speaking of Xbox, the company reported that its gaming revenue has risen by 51%, but sales of Xbox hardware are down 31%.

In personal news, I’ll finally get the chance to play two of my most-anticipated games this year: Stellar Blade and Tales of Kenzera: Zau. I’ve been looking forward to both of them for different reasons, but the common factor here is I’m a sucker for both types of gameplay. If I can find time, I’d also like to make room for Eiyuden Chronicles: Hundred Heroes, which also looks like it might be fun. However, I’ll probably pass on Another Crab’s Treasure — it’s going to take a lot more than cute graphics to get me to either 1) go into the ocean or 2) be good at a soulslike.
