Razer continues to support the mobile market, announcing a third controller in its Kishi series. Though, unlike its previous two attempts, the latest one supports the iPhone 15 series, Android, and even the iPad Mini.
In a press release, Razer announced the Kishi Ultra as a new "console-class" mobile gaming controller. Razer touts it as its flagship controller, featuring Razer Chroma RGB lighting, Hall Effect triggers, and haptics. As you can see from the image gallery below, the Kishi Ultra keeps that same Backbone-inspired shape, allowing players to extend the length of the controller by sliding it to fit their mobile devices in there.
The Kishi Ultra supports USB-C devices, so the iPhone 15 series and Android smartphones. Most phone cases are supported as well. Yet, the most interesting part about the Kishi Ultra is that it can support tablets with 8-inch displays. Most notably, this includes the iPad Mini, specifically the sixth generation iPad Mini, as that is the first tablet in the iPad Mini model to include a USB-C port, as previous iterations used Lightning to charge.
Although Razer is not the first company to make a controller of this design capable of supporting iPads, devices like GameVice for iPad and the iPega 9083B already exist. However, competition in the market could be bulkier or require a Bluetooth connection to work. The Kishi Ultra provides a more ergonomic design with the versatility to work on smartphones and smaller tablets. Of course, some mobile game controllers like Backbone One support iPads but require the user to connect a wired cable to establish a connection due to the form factor's design to work primarily with smartphones.
The Razer Kishi Ultra is available for $149.99 and is now available at retailers like Amazon.
