Valheim shares Ashlands update’s housing decor and a preparation guide, but not a release date

Content hungry players of Valheim are still waiting for the arrival of the Ashlands, an area and update that was first previewed in January 2023, and it looks as if the waiting will continue as Iron Gate Studios’ latest dev blog remains frustratingly noncommittal about a launch date. Or even a launch window.

“[T]he Ashlands update really isn’t far away now,” the studio promises in the post. “Just like any biome, the Ashlands will feature several new mechanics, new materials, building pieces and enemies, and it’s important to get all of that working smoothly. Right now we’re solving as many bugs and issues as we can in order to give you the best experience possible!”

What is being provided is another set of preview images that showcase several new housing decor items that will arrive with the patch, including a decorative window, a new wooden floor style, and vines that can be planted to crawl up player homes if they so choose. Iron Gate has also shared a preparatory post for the Ashlands that reminds players of public test branch requirements, offers a brief overview of what can be expected in terms of difficulty, and recommends players start a new world when the update lands. Whenever that may be.
