With Chapter 5 Season 2 bringing a whole host of new items, most players are eagerly blitzing through their Battle Passes. But some players, especially those grinding ranked, aren’t very happy about some of the new items, and are asking Epic Games to reconsider adding similar items in the future.

In a post on Reddit from u/n0tsad2, they ask ‘Can we stop adding broken mythics to the game? Let alone ranked loot pool?’, arguing that Mythics are ruining the competitiveness of ranked.

Talking about Zeus’ thunder, they say ‘it literally doesn’t make any sense, all of the thunders break and hurt you through builds, and the third one is just icing on the cake, breaks your entire box and bombs the hell out of you’.

They then follow up by asking ‘why does epic feel the need to add something like this to the ranked loot pool?’ and ‘i get it, experiments and whatever, but can’t you keep those in pubs???’

And OP isn’t the only one annoyed about this. Another post from u/Dirac-Existence notes ‘It’s not a “rare” or “mythic” if every 2nd player has one’. It seems like while having rare and mythic items everywhere is great for pubs, it’s having a major effect on ranked games, where players are feeling like the mythics that are being added every season are making it harder to play properly.

We can definitely understand this. If you’re trying hard to rank up, it can be incredibly frustrating to get repeatedly taken out by a brand-new, super-powerful item that everyone seemingly has access to.

And it seems like the consensus on how to deal with it is simple, with many players arguing that mythics need to be nerfed in competitive, made harder to get, or removed from the competitive loot pool entirely. That would make things much more consistent and let players actually practice in a tournament setting. Whether or not Epic will be listening is another story, though.

In the meantime, players are going to keep making use of the new lightning bolt mythic while it’s here, as well as all the other new weapons added for this season. And if you haven’t yet, be sure to check out the brand-new Chapter 5 Season 2 Battle Pass for a look at what’s been added.
