Along with all the exciting content that’s come with Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, there are of course some balance changes and tweaks to the ranked system. And one major change that’s set to hit some ranked players hard is a huge nerf to a popular strategy.

Prior to the update, winning a match in ranked without taking any damage gave you a huge boost in ranked points. This was being used by plenty of players to rapidly climb to Unreal Rank with ease, with ‘bushcampers’ hiding in bushes throughout the game, taking out players who couldn’t see them until they won and got that big ranked boost.

Many players look to be pleased with this change, arguing that playing against players who were using this strategy wasn’t fun at best, and at worst is just unfair on players who are playing the game normally. ‘Finally that’s it for campers’ said one X user, while another noted that the change is ‘Making it more interesting’ to play ranked.

That’s especially true for people playing Duos, Trios, and Squads, as having a bushcamper on your side while you’re trying to play the game normally can be frustrating, as getting caught out by another squad while you’re effectively a man down is basically a death sentence.

But naturally, some players were sad to see the strat go. That’s especially true for fans of BushCampDad, a streamer and YouTuber who has garnered a bit of a following specialising in bushcamping. Though he might not be getting as many ranked points after the update, he’ll probably stick to using the strat that has got him this far.

But for those of us unconcerned with bushcamping and the like, the update has plenty more interesting content on offer with a host of new weapons, new maps, and a new Battle Pass full of incredible skins to check out.
