Having officially announced the sequel was in production last year, developer Spiders has revealed the first proper look at GreedFall II: The Dying World. The follow-up is now confirmed to be a prequel that at least starts three years before the events of the first title, and has you play as a Teer Fradee native who's been snatched away from your homeland by colonists. Check out the trailer above.

You'll create your own character and then utilise "diplomacy, cunning, or combat" to regain your freedom and "end one man's ambitions of conquest, which could spell the end for both the continent and your island". The game enters early access on PC this summer, but a PS5 release date hasn't been communicated.

"Dive back into the unique world of GreedFall, this time exploring the old continent," the PS Store listing teases. "Travel across new landscapes, from Olima – the city of stars of the Bridge Alliance – to the shores of Uxantis, and uncover the secrets of these ancient lands. Meet all the factions that share control over these nations and navigate the treacherous waters of their schemes and conspiracies."

Based on the overall quality of the first game for PS4, the chance to take a second stab at the GreedFall franchise could yield some fantastic results for Spiders. "GreedFall is right on the cusp of being something special," we explained in our 7/10 rated review. "RPG fans will find a lot to like, but don't go in expecting the genre's next masterpiece."
