Helldivers 2 will ‘never’ add a PvP mode in an effort to ‘reduce toxic elements from the community’

Arrowhead Studios CEO and Helldivers 2 creative director Johan Pilestedt is once again making headlines for his bold statements about the popular third-person multiplayer shooter. Shortly after he talked about monetizing the game, he has responded to another fan on Twitter about PvP, and just like last time his answer is refreshingly succinct.

The conversation started when talk about the shooter’s popularity compared to Call of Duty began on the platform, with one reply suggesting that adding a PvP mode would “steal those COD players” while also arguing that it would keep “hardcore gamers” engaged.

“Hey; We’ll ‘never’ add a PvP-mode,” reads Pielstedt’s response. “This is to reduce toxic elements from the community. We want an environment that’s supportive, fun and where we all are fighting on the same side!”

It should be noted that Helldivers 2 does have friendly fire, which certainly has its fair share of unintended comedey moments (or the potential to be abused for griefing), so honestly Pielstedt’s feelings on the matter appear to be wholly justified. Just do yourselves a favor and don’t read past his reply; things devolve pretty fast and basically end up proving his point.
