Those playing battle royale shooter Fortnite were left wondering this week as the game’s regular weekly quests failed to materialise as expected in game – but now Epic has explained their absence.

The weekly challenges are, as the name suggests, a regular occurrence in the game – offering up a bunch of bonus XP for completing certain challenges across multiple games and helping players make progress in the Chapter 5 Season 1 Battle Pass. However, despite a promise in-game that the latest challenges would be live this week on February 6, said challenges were nowhere to be seen.

However, a tweet on the official Fortnite Support X account (formerly Twitter) has now shed some light on the matter. As per the explanation from Epic: “Please note that new weekly quests will not appear today despite being scheduled for today in-game. We plan to release them tomorrow around the same time.”

Of course, this means that the weekly quests are likely to arrive with Fortnite’s big update that’s expected to drop tomorrow. So far, thanks to leakers, we know some of what to expect in the next update, including the latest collaboration between Fortnite and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, with villain Shredder forecast to arrive with the patch. It seems there’ll also be some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles challenges too – which we dare say will make up part of the Weekly set.

In the meantime, plenty of members of the Fortnite community are building up their wishlists of what they hope to see in the TMNT collaboration, including calls for Master Splinter, Casey, Bebop and Rocksteady. The Turtles themselves have of course appeared in Fortnite previously, but there’s hope this new team-up might see the heroes in a half-shell get an update.
