The long-awaited sequel to SMITE has finally been announced by Titan Forge Games. Smite 2 will be releasing on PS5, running on Unreal Engine 5, and you can get your first look at it in the reveal trailer above.

Like its predecessor, the sequel will combine action RPG-style combat with the MOBA formula, and will feature dozens of playable characters based on the world's gods and legends. Two teams of five battle it out across three lanes to be the first to take down the opponent's titan. Smite 2 has revamped attack animations and visual effects, and will overall look much nicer thanks to the upgraded engine. On PS5, the game will also make use of DualSense's haptic feedback.

As well as that, Smite 2 will let you play more gods in more ways using items that can alter their playstyle. It'll also have a feature that automatically creates a build for you based on what playstyle you want to adopt.

If you've spent a lot of time in the original, all your gems you've spent will carry over, allowing you to get up to 50 per cent off new purchases. Plus, a Divine Legacy system is coming to the original game soon, and its job is to analyse your accomplishments and turn them into rewards in Smite 2 — things like fancy new Unreal 5 versions of character skins.

If you can't wait to play, you can sign up for future alpha tests on the game's official website.
