Licenses are a crucial part of football games, and EA Sports FC is set to lose a huge one next season. Just a year into the new era, Konami looks ready to snatch away one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

The release of the game has been largely successful thus far, as you can tell in our FC 24 review. One of the major positives in EA’s games are the vast array of authentic players, teams, and competitions, and this is no different with the FC 24 licenses portfolio.

However, if the rumours are to be believed, one of Europe’s biggest and most successful clubs will not be fully licensed in FC 25.

Ciao for now

According to a variety of sources on X (formerly Twitter), another Italian club is set to become exclusive to Konami’s eFootball franchise.

This is nothing we haven’t seen before. We became accustomed to Piemonte Calcio, and they have since returned to the FIFA/FC franchise as their proper name, Juventus.

There are currently four Serie A clubs that are exclusive to eFootball, and have alternative names in EA Sports FC 24. They are some of the league’s top teams too, including last year’s champions.

The current list of eFootball exclusive Serie A teams is as follows:

  • Atalanta (Bergamo Calcio)
  • Lazio (Latium)
  • Napoli (Napoli FC)
  • Roma (Roma FC)

Milano Calcio

According to @fifanewsfr on X, Inter Milan will no longer be licensed in EA Sports FC as of next season. Instead, the 19-time Italian champions will be known as Milano Calcio.

This would be a huge loss for EA, just as Juventus was back in 2019. While it won’t make a difference to the gameplay, the authenticity will diminish which is a cornerstone of EA’s football franchise.

Drink it in, you’ll never see anything like this ever again

The news is also raises questions about any further losses. Does Konami have any other irons in the fire? Last year we saw the whole Mexican league leave FIFA. Could we see something similar?

This news has been shared by several sources too, including @_ReFIFA and @DonkTrading. It is important to note that this news has not been confirmed by either Konami, or EA.
