The Finals Open Beta Draws 7.5 Million Players, Embark Studios 'Humbled'

The time-to-kill is waaaay too long and some of the weapons are not fun to play against (here's looking at you, flamethrower). I think it has promise, though!

Loved it. Most fun ive had in a multiplayer shooter since Battlefield 4. Some things still needs some adjustments like the classes but the possibilities are endless in part thanks to things like the destruction which is the best ive experience. Anyway, ive pretty much found a multiplayer shooter I can dig into and have fun after all these years. The game ran great on PS5 with very little problems for me other than a couple of glitches where my weapon would get visually stuck in the upward position a couple of times. Game looks great visually too and I could easily make distinction between things. The Finals and Helldivers 2 are it for me in the near future.

Having said that, id still like for them to use real voicework instead of A.I. Nexon got money. Stop being so cheap on the voice work, the core of your game is great, flaws and all.

After it crashing repeatedly on the first day never went back.

I had a great time with the game. For a beta test I didn't have many major issues, but the lack of rebinding controls was a nightmare!

I saw someone else say the TTK was too high, but i prefer a slightly longer ttk in games. Agreed, flamethrower is broken

I played it for an evening and thought it was pretty cool. Reminded me of BF4 a bit, with a Mirrors Edge aesthetic of sorts. The Fortnite level of cosmetics with all the garish colours, stupid gestures and such and hipster presentation is not for me. I'm old and completely out of touch with that, it looks and feels like a kids game. BF2042 is what i still can tolerate, but only just. The Finals core-gameplay is solid but that presentation... Yuck. Not for me

Just delete it. Anything using AI where human beings could be used should be put in the trash.

Very deserved. I hope they nail the release and wouldn't mind too much if they don't end up releasing this year. Kinda do want that multiplayer fix though.

A good easy to jump in and play multiplayer. It did have some issues like time to kill was too long, the recoil on the ‘AK’ was way too harsh. I didn’t get to try many other weapons but the recoil on the ‘small’ class’ gun was a lot better but again it took a mag and a half to kill someone.

The maps were fun, with good destruction. I wonder if they’ll add more game modes, such as capture the flag or domination where you can make use of the destruction more tactfully. The beta game modes felt very fast paced

Amazing game, lots of fun and super addicting. gameplay loop, it’s the most fun i’ve had in a shooter in a while.

That being said… Ttk was a little too long on many guns, i couldn’t figure out how to just drop my friends statue and had to “throw” it everytime.

There were some issues with chat where we had to leave the voice chat and rejoin to be able to hear each other , so we just did discord instead, occasionally there were stutters and the lag but overall the experience was pretty smooth.

after some destruction events the ground textures didn’t load at all lol but …. the ai voice thing didn’t even bother what so ever… If it helps them get out more modes and variants quicker in the future i’m all for it. It’s not like it’s a story game and you need amazing delivery and voice acting. The results were passable and not jarring so i would say they are a non issue

Enjoyable beta and will almost definitely be downloading on release. The core gameplay loop, movement/parkour, customisation and destructive arenas are all excellent. The shooting needs work as the pace is slowed down as many comments above say, the time-to-kill is far too long. Agree that the flamethrower is OP, the sword as well. The game show theming fits really well and the AI voices isn't preferable but I wouldn't not download play because of that. Hopefully a full release before end of the year?
