For many Call of Duty players, it’s starting to seem like one of the things Activision did right for Modern Warfare 3 was building excitement ahead of the game’s release. However, many players have shared their disappointment with the game’s much-anticipated campaign.

Aside from the campaign being “too short” and “lacklustre”, many players say the majority of the missions take place in Warzone locations, which makes the campaign experience feel like a DMZ rather than an actual Call of Duty campaign.

A short and disappointing campaign

Many players have criticised the game’s campaign for being 3-4 hours long. One Reddit user ‘SFalcon93′ took to the MW2 Subreddit to lament the game’s campaign saying, “We got duped if you bought the game for the campaign. It’s the biggest joke of any COD campaign.. if you’re like me and want to buy the game for the campaign and zombies. DON’T. Save your money.”

Another user ‘Longbow92′ whose main concern seemed to be about the game’s much-hyped, but disappointing open combat missions said, “A shame about the open combat missions tbh, once I found out that all the guns and stuff you collect are exclusive to that one mission, it kinda turned me off from bothering to explore.”

One user called the campaign, “A rushed garbage campaign” and urged players to stop buying into the hype and to stop pre-ordering games.

Campaign turns PVE?

Modern Warfare 3 players aren’t holding back their frustration and it’s only right. One Reddit user who goes by ‘beerculesisback’ says the MW3 campaign feels, “Just like playing PvE war zone,” and wondered if, “The whole game is just one big WZ/DMZ?”.

Another user ‘exkayem’  comments that MW3 simply, “Isn’t that good compared to the first 2″ which is seconded by many other comments of players calling Activision’s latest installment a DLC of MW2 rather than a fresh experience.

Modern Warfare 3 campaign early access is still underway but it’s safe to say the previous multiplayer beta got better responses from players as opposed to the campaign, which for many, is the best part of a Call of Duty game.
