The announcement of the MW3 Zombies mode has predictably been met with acclaim as CoD fans had long been asking for a new match type that featured hordes of the undead. But even though the next installment’s Outbreak-inspired offering is already highly popular ahead of the game’s actual launch, some fans are hoping that Sledgehammer Games doesn’t ruin the experience by introducing an unwanted feature: a PvP mode.

Ahead of the Modern Warfare 3 release date, Activision and Sledgehammer Games have already revealed several key details regarding the highly anticipated Zombies mode. Aside from it being “the series’ largest zombie offering to date,” both the publisher and the developers involved have already described it as an “extraction survival experience” similar to DMZ and Black Ops Cold War’s Outbreak mode.

Of course, this revelation has excited many within the community since DMZ finally gave long time players a new way of enjoying CoD that wasn’t related to multiplayer or Warzone. However, the Zombie mode’s open world setting and similarity to DMZ has some worried that Treyarch is going to introduce a PvP mode to keep players on their toes and to make the match type more exciting in the long run.

Over on Reddit, one post created by a concerned user simply said: “I pray [the developers] never add PvP into MWIII Zombies.” This was then followed by a cascade of comments stating their own concerns about a PvPvE experience were it ever to be introduced. One responder noted: “They could have 2 playlists but yeah, PvPvE sounds [like] hell because the ones that want PvP [in Zombies] will do nothing but PvP, no matter how engaging teaming against zombies is.”

Fortunately, Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch have given no indication of an impending PvP addition to Modern Warfare Zombies at the time of writing. However, this could still end up changing since the game’s release date is still quite far off.
