In Diablo 4 there is an incredible story that many players have already fallen in love with. It expands across the entirety of Sanctuary, encouraging the player to explore various places along the way. However, there is so much more to Diablo 4 than the main campaign.

Like any good ARPG there is plenty to do well-away from the main story for a player to get stuck into. From focusing on their character, to other unbelievable stories to explore, these are only some things a player might want to get up to in Diablo 4 without advancing the main campaign.

8 Go Exploring For Resources

Part of the enjoyment with Diablo 4 is the possibility of finding the perfect armor that can then be upgraded or making potions that will protect a player during certain occasions. However, to make both things possible, a player needs the necessary gold and resources.

While one way to make materials is to salvage gear the player is no longer wearing, another solution is found by exploring Sanctuary. Across the map players can pick up various materials from finding nodes of ore, to bushes that have the necessary potion ingredients required.

7 Grind Enemies For Better Gear

Those that don't wish to adventure far and want a straightforward task to complete need to look no further than the enemies that lurk outside of towns. Searching for better armor and weapons to use is something many fans of Diablo enjoy doing. Killing enemies around Sanctuary is sure to drop some loot.

Besides the gear available, players can also simply go searching for enemies to kill in a hope of leveling up more. Thankfully, a player doesn't need to go far as many foes can be found just outside of town.

6 Delve Into Various Dungeons

There is more to be done in Diablo 4 than just what appears on the surface. Dungeons are a must for players that are exploring alone or with friends that love ARPGs. These locations not only guarantee entertainment, but also give a whole new area to explore.

At the end of these dungeons is usually a large boss that will challenge the player's skills while also rewarding them with great loot if they can defeat it. Other than this, the dungeon also provides plenty of other chances to find better gear while defeating regular enemies.

5 Increase Region Progress

Exploration has far more importance than just collecting resources, especially for completionists. Sanctuary is a large place cut into regions, each region has its own set of goals that when completed rewards the player's current –and future– characters.

While further rewards will require the player to unlock a World Tier three, players are still able to advance the progress of the Region. These activities involve unlocking waypoints, finding Altars of Lilith, and conquering strongholds.

4 Take Part In World Events

As Diablo 4 is online only, players are likely to encounter others constantly during their adventures. While at times these meetings might be in town, players can also be found at the various World Events of Sanctuary.

These events encourage players to work together to defeat waves of enemies or take down a World Boss. However, it is possible to complete these activities alone. Successfully finishing the event will reward a player with gold and gear. Though they are mostly finished for the exclusive currency of murmuring Obols that can be gambled away for better gear.

3 Create The Perfect Build

Each act of the game increases in difficulty which requires the player to level up their character. However, leveling alone won't make a player more powerful as Diablo heavily relies on making the perfect build for a class. While new players to the franchise may struggle to do this, it's important to take a moment to focus on building up their character.

Stepping away from the campaign allows players to experiment with their class and the wide variety of skills available. Finding what works best for the player is essential and will make going into the campaign easier. Thankfully, resetting skills is also quite cheap, so players don't need to worry about dedicating themselves to a build.

2 Test Their Might In PvP

PvE is a large portion of Diablo 4, but just like past titles of the franchise there are still ways for players to compete against others. Scattered across the map are player vs. player areas that allow a gamer to test themselves against another.

The Fields of Hatred that are shown on the map as red circles and players will want to be cautious when adventuring inside. Marking themselves for blood allows the player to attack other players but also set themselves up as a target for others. While some resources can be found by defeating others, it's better to not go alone.

1 Complete The Wide Range Of Side Quests

The brilliant writing of Diablo doesn't stop at the campaign as exploring Sanctuary will reveal all sorts of side quests for the player to get stuck into. From helping a priestess exercise demons, to defeating a brutal foe, there are many epic tales to uncover.

Besides the brilliant stories involved, these are also a great way to get the necessary gold or gear needed. After all these activities have been done it's only a matter of time before the player will return to fighting the forces of evil and putting an end to Lilith.
