The Flash is one of the most popular heroes in DC Comics history. The Scarlett Speedster first broke onto the pages of DC Comics in 1940 and has had several reboots in continuity over the years. The Flash has also had a bevy of allies that have had his back along the way.

Whether it's the original continuity, the new 52, the 1990s television series, the Arrowverse, or the DCEU, the Flash gets help from some of the best places. And many of these characters step up whether they are helping Barry Allen, Bart Allen, Jay Garrick or Wally West.

10 Flash's Wives

Iris West. Linda Park. Joan Williams.

Many incarnations of the Flash have been married, and these wives have been wonderful allies that always have their back. For fans of The Flash TV show, the most recognizable wife is Iris West, who is married to Barry Allen. Iris has a connection to another Flash as well, as she is Wally West's sister on the show and his aunt in the Comics.

On top of Iris West, both Wally West and Jay Garrick have been married in the comics to Linda Park and Joan Williams, respectively. Linda is also the mother to two speedster children with Wally, and Joan is Jay's rock who is able to talk him into continuing his superhero journey when he becomes disillusioned.

9 Patty Spivot

Patty Spivot

One of Barry Allen's girlfriends in the comics, Patty dated the Flash in the New 52 continuity. The pair had a strong relationship, probably Barry's second-strongest romantic relationship after Iris West. They break up after Patty experiences a disillusioned future version of Barry who is willing to kill.

On The Flash TV show, Patty Spivot is introduced in the first season as a romantic partner for Barry while Iris is dating Eddie Thawne. While Barry and Patty have a good chemistry, the romance is doomed since it's clear the show's creators intend for Iris to be his ultimate partner.

8 Jesse Quick

Jesse Quick

Jesse Quick is a speedster who joined the Flash family in different ways depending on what medium she is presented in. In the Golden Age comics, she is the daughter of Johnny Quick and Liberty Belle. After gaining access to the Speed Force, she became a critical member of the Flash family, helping both Wally West and Bart Allen.

In the television show on the CW, Jesse is introduced as the future daughter of Barry Allen and Iris West. She goes back in time to help save them from certain doom.

7 Impulse

Impulse

Impulse is the name that Barry Allen's grandson, Bart, uses as his hero alter ego. He can travel through time, but it wreaks havoc on the aging process, making it inconsistent at best. Following the events of Infinite Crisis, Bart also takes up the mantle of the Flash for a short time.

Impulse is often a younger speedster akin to Kid Flash. He is often a core member of younger superhero teams like Young Justice and the Teen Titans.

6 Batman

Batman and Flash

Barry Allen's friendship with Batman is really highlighted in the New 52 continuity. When the characters' backstories were rebooted, the Flash became the latest superhero to experience a parental tragedy, as the story included the death of his mother, Norah Allen. This allowed Barry to bond with Bruce Wayne, whose story was also heavily influenced by the murder of his parents.

In continuity before the New 52 reboot, Barry Allen's version of the Flash still worked closely with Batman. That version of Bruce Wayne was very complimentary of the man Barry Allen had become. The bond between the two heroes is palpable.

5 Superman

Superman and Flash

Where the Flash bonds with Batman over shared trauma, the Flash, specifically Barry Allen, bonds with Superman over shared optimism. Both have upbeat personalities and a fondness for racing each other to see which really is the fastest.

Both are integral in the founding of some of the greatest superhero squads in DC Comics history. While many heroes tap into their darker sides while saving the public, these are two that try to stay towards the light.

4 Green Lantern

Green Lantern and Flash

Another DC Comics superhero that has come to the Flash's aid across multiple incarnations, several members of the Green Lantern corps are close to versions of the Scarlett Speedster. The most obvious of the Green Lanterns is Hal Jordan, who served with Barry Allen in the Justice League and appeared in the Flash & Green Lantern: The Brave and the Bold series.

Another Green Lantern that has worked well with the Flash is Jessica Cruz. Barry served as a mentor for Jessica, which helped grow her confidence as a Lantern. The pair even dated for a short time in the comics, providing them both with an ally in times of need.

3 Justice League Incarnate

Justice League Incarnate

There are at least three superhero squadrons to feature a member of the Flash family. Justice League Incarnate is an alternate version of the JLA, featuring heroes from different universes. Avery Ho, one of the newer speed force users, represented Prime Earth in Justice League Incarnate.

After being mentored by Barry Allen, Avery's control of the speed force allowed her to be a valuable member of the team. It also gave her a connection to the original Justice League that came in handy during the events of Dark Crisis.

2 Justice Society of America

Justice Society of America

The second of the three superhero squadrons to feature a member of the Flash family, the Justice Society of America provided a bedrock of support for Jay Garrick during his time as the Scarlett Speedster. While it featured some of the usual suspects like Batman and Green Lantern, the Justice Society also hooked Garrick up with Dr. Fate, the Atom, and Hawkman.

The Flash was one of the most important members of the JSA when it was introduced in 1940, even though there was no official leader of the team. The Flash has appeared in almost every iteration of the Justice Society of America.

1 Justice League of America

Justice League of America

The final of the three superhero squadron to feature a member of the Flash family is the Justice League of America. Much like the JSA, the JLA featured Flash serving alongside Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman. The JLA also featured Cyborg, Firestorm, and Aquaman.

The team of superheroes would work together to take on various super villains. They were always ready when the world was in need. And Flash could always count on his fellow JLA members.
