In many games, if there is a class that is meant to PvP, it's that shadowy assassin. For Diablo 4 gamers, that honor falls to the Rogue. Of course, in many situations, stealth and stabbing from the shadows isn't always the way the Rogue is played. Even so, few would argue that the skillset of the Rogue screams PvP combat.

And does the Rogue ever deliver. Diablo 4 is a well-balanced game but that might be up for debate when players realize what they can do with the best Rogue build. While some classes can keep up stuns, slows, and freezes, a great Rogue on the Field of Hatred won't allow their opposition to use a single move on their toolbar before it's all over.

Updated on June 29th, 2023 by Hodey Johns: This guide has been updated for the huge rebalance patch in 1.0.3. Many guides have remained untouched because most skills got a simple numerical buff or nerf to bring them in line with the rest of the skills in the game. Especially with Vulnerable builds becoming so powerful, this was an appropriate rebalance. However, not every skill received a small buff or nerf. Some of these were significant enough to change builds for and this build was one of those. Some of these buffs weren't to damage but to cooldown or resource reduction which alters the skill rotation entirely. The old build might still be better than it was before but this new guide gets the absolute most out of the class.

At the maximum level and with all the Renown gathered, players will have 58 skill points to invest. While stealth may seem like the way to go the best Rogue does not need to hide their movements because the person they are attacking will be unable to use any skills.

This is a daze build. With the right rotation, an opponent will often never get a chance to react as they'll be permanently dazed. This means the only option is to run away but the movement speed bonuses also tied to this build won't allow that to happen either. If the PvP Rogue hits first, it will also hit last. If plans fall apart or the enemy somehow wriggles away, use Shadow Step and continue the lockdown.

The paragon boards and glyphs can be a bit tough to figure out. It's a matter of adjusting the boards so that they snake properly. Few players will get to the maximum 200 paragon points but those that do will find that their powers are enhanced by enormous magnitudes.

Listing all nodes would be tedious and impossible to read, but if gamers move between the major nodes listed, it shouldn't be an issue. Make sure to purchase all relevant stat bonus nodes inside the designated glyph areas.

Although PvP usually demands a higher focus on defense, the Rogue can afford to go all out on offense so long as they stick to picking off targets and not running into the middle of group fights. The opponent will be unable to attack while Knocked Down and Dazed and that's all the defense the PvP Rogue needs.

With the new aspect system, gamers have a ton of freedom to take the piece of gear they find with the best stats and then add their favorite effect to it. Increasing potion efficiency helps out a bit but these aspects are game-changing. Note that some of these aspects can be swapped in and out on other pieces of gear; which piece has which aspect is not important.

The PvP Rogue should feel spoiled by the buffet of gear options. Notably, Ghostwalker Aspect will give the class a stealth facet to the game for when a clean getaway is necessary. Ravager's Aspect gives players another charge on Shadow Step, further reducing the ability for opponents to escape.

Specialization

  • Combo Points

World Tiers can get out of control when it comes to difficulty. Thankfully, specializations are a simple way to keep pace with the escalating challenge. For a PvP Rogue, the choice is simple and devious.

Combo Points give Twisting Blades an extreme movement speed bonus. The only thing players can do while dazed is move but they won't be able to move fast enough as the Rogue can unleash their combos against these targets without interruption. Unless the victim brought a large group to the Fields of Hatred, they've got no chance of escape.

Diablo 4 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
