Over the last few years, Xbox Game Pass has seen hundreds of excellent games come to the service, from first-party exclusives to Indie gems and third-party favorites. But while the output over the last few months has stayed the same in terms of quantity, the quality of Xbox Game Pass' recent games hasn't been much to write home about. Aside from one or two games every month, like Hi-Fi Rush, Age of Empires 2, and a handful of Personas, Xbox Game Pass has had some lackluster offerings in 2023.

But that could all be about to change. As it stands right now, Xbox Game Pass has just three games confirmed for June 2023, with the only big-name title being Amnesia: The Bunker. But with the Xbox June Showcase right around the corner, it's likely that Xbox Game Pass has some surprises up its sleeve this coming month, and there are a few upcoming games that could really turn things around for Xbox Game Pass right now.

Set to release on June 2 2023, We Love Katamari Reroll + Royal Reverie would be the perfect way to kick off an impressive month for Xbox Game Pass. A remaster of the second game in the Katamari series, originally a PlayStation 2 exclusive game, We Love Katamari Reroll + Royal Reverie not only includes the entirety of the original game's content, but also comes with a handful of new missions and challenges, a new playable character, and a plethora of quality of life improvements. Though there's been no hint that We Love Katamari Reroll will head to Xbox Game Pass, there is hope, with the first remaster, Katamari Damarcy Reroll having been on the service before.

Another remaster/remake that would be a perfect addition for Xbox Game Pass' June 2023 line-up, Layers of Fear takes Bloober Team's innovative 2016 psychological horror, and gives it a fresh coat of paint. Using Unreal Engine 5, Layers of Fear is set to be the definitive way to play the cult horror series, with the remastered package including the original, its sequel, and all of its DLC. Back in March 2017, Layers of Fear was one of the free games with Xbox Live Gold, so the remaster coming to Xbox Game Pass would be a fun way to bring the series full circle.

One of June 2023's lesser-known releases, Park Beyond is the next tycoon business sim from Limbic Entertainment, the same studio behind Tropico 6. Taking heavy inspiration from Planet Coaster, Park Beyond separates itself from the crowd by putting an emphasis on user creation. Park Beyond lets players truly build the theme park of their dreams, letting them create just about any ride or attraction they can think of by combining a variety of different structures to make one bizarre, horrifying creation. With Planet Coaster leaving Xbox Game Pass all the way back in November 2021, the service has been in desperate need of another theme park tycoon sim, and Park Beyond is the obvious choice this June.

Xbox Game Pass very rarely gets Xbox 360 games anymore, but it should make an exception just this once. In PlayStation's latest showcase, Konami announced that a Metal Gear Solid remastered collection would be heading to modern consoles in the Autumn of this year. But Xbox could beat it to the punch by bringing back the 2011 Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for Xbox Game Pass.
