A new studio has announced its arrival on the games development scene by the name of TTK Games, and it’s being led by a number of former Battlefield developers including the series’ former director Lars Gustavsson.

The TTK in the name stands for Time To Kill, and the studio promises to create the ‘next generation of online shooters’ – with its work on its debut title already under way. According to the press release, the studio’s primary ambition is to become “respected frontrunners of connected entertainment, combining the expertise of industry veterans with the latest ideas from the new generation of developers and deep engagement with players.”

Lars brings his 24 years of Battlefield experience with him, and is joined by Daniel Berlin, who was the former Lead World Designer on Battlefield 1, along with former series Technical Director Vidar Nygren and former Studio Art Director Peter Hoyles – although the latter had left DICE LA some years prior, and had been working at Skydance New Media (the studio behind the upcoming Captain America game) until he joined his former colleagues to form TTK.

Gustavsson provides a quote for his new studio “For us the term ‘TTK’ isn’t just about the craftmanship behind finding the perfect speed or immediacy of a game – it’s about how human beings have been killing time through play for thousands of years. Throughout my career I’ve made games to encourage teamwork, friendly competition and using your mind and reflexes to accomplish a goal and outwit your opponent. We are passionate about videogames, because we think there’s no better way to kill time.”

The studio hasn’t given much away about its new game just yet, only saying that it’ll be a “new next-generation online shooter” – so if you were hoping for things like platforms and any sort of release, we’re afraid you’ll have to wait a little longer for that. Still, that’s quite the pedigree behind the studio, and given the massive popularity of the Battlefield franchise, it’ll certainly be worth keeping an eye on what comes out of TTK Games going foward.
