Behaviour Interactive has revealed that a standalone, single-player game based on Dead by Daylight is currently being developed by Supermassive Games. For those unfamiliar, Supermassive Games is a studio that’s become widely known for creating a handful of brilliant narrative-heavy, interactive titles such as Until Dawn, The Quarry, and The Devil in Me.
With Nicolas Cage already set to be a part of the Dead by Daylight omniverse, fans of the cooperative horror entry now have even more to look forward to once this eventually gets released. Unfortunately, the developers are yet to provide the release date for the upcoming single-player game so fans will have to remain patient until more details are provided.
Luckily, Supermassive Games has revealed a vague outline of the plot already through the Dead by Daylight Year 7 anniversary broadcast. According to executive producer Traci Tufte, the “game will be set outside The Entity’s Realm” and will “feature the story of a new cast of characters who players will follow for an unprecedented experience beyond The Fog.”
If you’ve played any of the previous Supermassive Games-led titles we mentioned, then you may already have an idea of what’s in store. There should be plenty of life or death choices that will define each character’s fate and this will also naturally affect the ending that you get at the end of the story. It’s currently unclear who the protagonists are going to be, but it’s safe to say that the popular Meg Thomas and Dwight Fairfield aren’t going to be a part of the roster.
Aside from the Dead by Daylight single-player game, Behaviour Interactive has also revealed that Midwinter Entertainment is also in the process of creating a completely separate, but similarly-themed game. Instead of being a single-player entry, though, this installment will be a multiplayer PvE experience that will have four players teaming up to face a horde of enemies.
