Among the many fan theories in Stardew Valley, the idea that Abigail is the Wizard's daughter may be the most widely believed. Interestingly, this theory is not a simple shot in the dark because there are a fair amount of details scattered throughout the game that make it quite plausible. Although the game does not go out of its way to explore Abigail's parentage, fans latched onto the idea and made it one of the most interesting unanswered questions in Stardew Valley.

The presence of Stardew Valley's resident-friendly Wizard is the clearest sign of the supernatural in Pelican Town. Aside from being a literal wizard living on the outskirts of an otherwise largely normal town, he also introduces the player to the Junimos, the local nature spirits. While he does live a bit out of the way compared to the others, the player can befriend him just as well as they can other NPCs in Pelican Town. Fittingly for his mystical nature, he has the most mysterious past of anyone in the valley with the possible exception of Linus. This mystery plays further into the theory of Abigail's parentage.

Stardew Valley Has Several Hints That Abigail's Father May Not Be Pierre

The first hint in favor of the Wizard being Abigail's father in Stardew Valley is their appearance. Abigail doesn't have much resemblance to her father Pierre, which is something that he can actually muse on occasionally. Abigail's purple hair is a particularly distinctive characteristic. Although her goth design implies that it could be dyed, she will mention that she doesn't remember the last time she dyed her hair, yet the color remains. The only other character in Stardew Valley with purple hair is the Wizard, although his hair is more vibrant. This could be a coincidence, but it is not the only piece of evidence.

Abigail has some traits that could point towards a magical lineage, especially if the player pursues Abigail's romance in Stardew Valley. Abigail shows a desire to be an adventurer on multiple occasions. This is shown in a few of her heart events, as well as the fact that she hides a sword in her room. In addition, she will travel out to the WIzard's tower on occasion, feeling a connection to the area that she can't quite explain. It's clear that Abigail desires a more fantastical life than the rest of the townsfolk, which she could have inherited from the Wizard.

This theory is bolstered by the implication that Caroline and the Wizard have a history together. Caroline says that she used to take walks down by Stardew Valley's Wizard's tower, but stopped because Pierre would get jealous. In addition, in the heart event where Caroline shares some of her tea with the player character, the ensuing cutscene is somewhat psychedelic and reminiscent of the Wizard's introductory scene. Combining this with the fact that Pierre seems somewhat distant from his family, it becomes harder to ignore the coincidences. There does seem to be a possibility that Abigail's real parents are not Pierre and Caroline, but Caroline and the Wizard.

Most importantly, the Wizard himself states that he believes that someone in Pelican Town is his child, although he doesn't know who. This may be Stardew Valley's biggest unsolved mystery, but there's more than enough reason to believe that Abigail is the Wizard's daughter. Even though it may not be written in stone, the theory is accepted by many in the Stardew Valley community.

Stardew Valley is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
