Battle royale shooter Fortnite has released its latest patch, and this week’s 24.40 update is a treat for Star Wars fans as the sci-fi series returns for another mash-up event between the two series.

The ‘Find the Force’ event runs from now until May 23, 2023 and offers up unique quests and cosmetics based on characters from across the series – taking full advantage of the recent release of Star Wars Jedi Survivor but also coming right in time for Star Wars Day on May 4. Players can complete Find the Force quests, and obtain some unique rewards including a Clone Trooper outfit – and for those who purchase the premium track – a Darth Maul Outfit and a Coruscant Guard Outfit are in the mix too.

Meanwhile, the item shop has a few more Star Wars cosmetics up for grabs. Players can buy themselves the new Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala outfits from the store, along with the 501st Trooper and 212th Battalion Trooper outfits too.

On the island itself, players can find Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker and Darth Maul holograms placed on the map, and finding them gives you an offer to accept their training. Do so, and you’ll get a lighsaber and some Force abilities for your troubles – including a faster Sprint and Double Jump power while having the lightsaber equipped. Depending who you talk to will also net you another power – Obi offers Force Push, Anakin will grant you Force Pull and Darth Maul will allow you to use Force Pull to throw objects in the world.

Not enough Star Wars in your Fortnite? Well, DC-15 Blasters can be found in Republic Chests spawned on the island, and you can earn some Galactic Reputation from completing Find the Force chests for even more cosmetic rewards – complete twelve quests in a set to receive a Sith Holocron, and get three of these to nab yourself the Sith Infiltrator Glider.

The quests will be released in batches of three – ‘The Force Within’ quests will be first, going live today on May 2, ‘Begun the Clone Wars Have’ will follow on May 7, and finally the ‘Fall of the Republic’ Quests will go live on May 12. Finally, you’ll be able to mop up any remaining Galactic Reputation you need for the unlocks with a final epilogue set of quests – named ‘The First Galactic Empire’ quests – on May 17.

Elsewhere, 24.30 also includes four new reality augments:

  • Tracker’s Armory
  • Desperate Reload
  • Steady Hands
  • SMG Sign Off

Competitive Notes

  • Force abilities, Jedi Padawan and Sith Apprentice Lightsabers, and DC-15 Blasters are currently not included in Arena or tournaments. We’re investigating possibly including these abilities and items in Arena and tournaments after FNCS Major 2 concludes.

Major Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where large rocks on the Island were not providing as many materials as intended when harvested.
  • Fixed an issue where using ODM Gear would sometimes cause a player to fly even if no longer using the item.
  • Back Blings no longer appear detached on the Highwire Outfit.
  • Fixed an issue where the Starter Island timer did not go down properly.
  • Fixed an issue that caused a long load time to occur when entering a match with the DirectX 12 rendering mode enabled.
  • Trunks and tree branches no longer appear to move erratically when playing Fortnite on mobile or PC Performance Mode.
  • The majorest bug fix: the Infinite Dab Emote wasn’t looping for 15 hours when performed in the Lobby. This is fixed and it now loops for 16 hours.
