The Gran Turismo movie has had its share of nay-sayers since its announcement, but it has some serious potential. Telling the true story of a player who went from playing the titular game to racing real cars, it has a decent premise and, by the sound of it, will feature some awesome driving action, too.
Director Neill Blomkamp (best-known for his sci-fi movies like District 9 and Chappie) spoke to Empire magazine about the film, which is set to star Archie Madekwe as Jann Mardenborough, the aforementioned lead character. Apparently inspired by the incredible stunt work in Top Gun: Maverick, Blomkamp says the movie will feature "real actors, in real cars, on real race tracks, driving insanely quickly".
However, while the racing should deliver some high-speed thrills, the main thrust will be led by characters rather than cars. "The north star for me was to make a videogame title with character work that propels the movie, even more so than the racing," he says. "Although the racing is bloody intense, too."
Gran Turismo will also feature talent such as David Harbour, Orlando Bloom, and Geri Horner in supporting roles. It's set for theatrical release on 11th August 2023, so it's on the approach. Are you looking forward to watching this? Grab some popcorn in the comments section below.

This reminds me of the old mantra around the series that it's not a racing game, it's your "car-life" game. Supposedly it implies a life-style and sentimentalism of living with a car. So it's just as well that they put more focus on the people in a movie.
I don't dislike it when games take that approach; I felt the same in games like Days Gone where I developed an affection towards my bike, and that wasn't even a racing game. But that feeling of interdependency between it and me was beautiful.
I predict a PC port of 7 around the time of the launch of the movie.

Question for the racing/rally enthousiasts here… Should I pick up WRC 10 for € 8,99 or WRC Generations for € 19,99 in the PS Store sale? Is the latter worth the extra money?

@Darude84 IMHO Generations is the better buy for you simply because WRC10 is not a sufficient enough leap from 9 (which you played). Had you never played any of them, I woulda suggested 10. I feel like Generations is a bit less newb friendly to start, which again is not an issue in your circumstances.
@NEStalgia Haha that car life thing dates back to the bygone era of PS1/2. I think it originates in a Japanese interview with the designer, but not sure.

@Konks @Kidfunkadelic83 Thanks both! I’ll go with Generations then. I read it also contains a lot more content than 10, so might be a nice one to keep on revisiting in the future.
