HoYoverse has confirmed an update for the PC version of Genshin Impact that will add support for the PS5 DualSense Edge controller. Currently, Genshin Impact supports PlayStation 5 DualSense and Xbox Series X|S controllers on PC, but a recently released controller is missing from the list of supported devices.

Genshin Impact is regularly updated by HoYoverse with new features, content, and optimizations. The recent version 3.5 update introduced new playable characters and events for Genshin Impact players to experience in both Mondstadt and Sumeru. Genshin Impact version 3.6 is expected to arrive this April, and the update may include support for one of Sony's most recent controller releases in 2023.

HoYoverse updated its official FAQ for wireless controller support in Genshin Impact, revealing that official support for Sony's DualSense Edge controller is coming soon to the PC version. In a future update, Genshin Impact players that wirelessly connect a DualSense Edge controller to their PC will be able to change key bindings and adjust angle sensitivity. The Genshin Impact developers state the new feature is not complete at the moment, and further optimizations are being made to ensure compatibility for the DualSense Edge. As a result, HoYoverse did not provide a specific date and time for the upcoming PC update. Once the update is released, more work may be needed to optimize the DualSense Edge controller's performance in Genshin Impact.

Although DualSense Edge support is coming to the PC version, HoYoverse did not comment on potential DualSense support for the iOS version. Genshin Impact supports DualShock 4, Xbox Wireless, and Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2 controllers on PC and iOS, but the iOS version currently lacks DualSense support. Players may connect a base DualSense controller to their PC via a wired USB connection or wirelessly through a Bluetooth connection to play Genshin Impact. However, DualSense controller vibration is not supported through a Bluetooth connection on PC.

DualSense Edge support is a very promising addition for Genshin Impact on PC, but more updates may be required to bring controller parity between the existing PC and iOS versions. Moreover, Genshin Impact fans continue to clamor for controller support in the Android version according to the FAQ's comment section. The lack of controller support for Android grows as a source of frustration within the player community.

HoYoverse plans on sharing more information about the new Genshin Impact PC update soon. In the meantime, fans may look forward to Genshin Impact version 3.6 next month with a special program live stream preceding the update's arrival.

Genshin Impact is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. A Nintendo Switch version is in development with no confirmed release date.
