Hogwarts Legacy tells the story of a young fifth-year student during their first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Upon arriving at Hogwarts Castle, the protagonist will be required to attend various classes and complete schoolwork, but the power they possess also makes them the only being capable of stopping a Ranrok from waging war on wizardkind.

While exploring the world of Hogwarts Legacy, the player will encounter several Bandit Camps in which some of Ranrok's Loyalists reside. These goblins will attack if the player gets too close, but defeating them can become a pretty easy process if the player knows how to fight them. Disarming these foes and throwing their weapons back at them can deal some significant damage, but figuring out how to do it can be tricky.

How To Disarm Enemies In Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy Professor Hecat

In order to be able to throw an enemy's weapon back at them, the player must first know how to disarm their foes. The only way to do this is to cast the Expelliarmus spell, an extremely helpful spell that removes wands and weapons from the hands of those it is cast at.

To acquire the Expelliarmus spell, the player must first complete the Secrets of the Restricted Section main quest, after which they will unlock Professor Hecat's Assignment 2. To complete this assignment, the player will need to dodge a total of ten incoming attacks and use Incendio on enemies five times. Once this has been done, the player can return to Professor Hecat's classroom, where they will learn Expelliarmus.

Catching And Throwing Disarmed Weapons In Hogwarts Legacy

Fighting goblins in Hogwarts Legacy

Not all enemies in Hogwarts Legacy carry weapons, so players might need to explore the world until they find some that do. Since goblins aren't allowed to carry wands, most tend to carry tools that can be used in close-quarter combat. These tools, when disarmed and thrown, can inflict some pretty serious damage, so players should prioritize fighting goblins if they wish to make use of the weapons they carry.

A Medium Bandit Camp in Hogwarts Legacy

Goblins can be found pretty easily by exploring the map or progressing the main story, but those who wish to find a reliable place to face several should investigate the Bandit Camps scattered across the map. The Medium Bandit Camp south of the Northern South Sea Bog Floo Flame is a great place to find large groups of them.

Throwing a crossbow in Hogwarts Legacy

While fighting goblins, the player can cast Expelliarmus to disarm them and then press Z on the keyboard or R1/RB on the controller. Doing so will then cause the disarmed weapon to be thrown at whatever enemy the player is aiming at. Some goblins will defend themselves by conjuring colored shields. If this prevents the player from hitting their target with Expelliarmus, they should first break the enemy's shield before trying again.

Hogwarts Legacy is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. PS4 and Xbox One versions will release on April 4, and a Switch version will release on July 25.
