*UPDATED* Nintendo Switch Online adds Game Boy and GBA games to the service

Nintendo has added a pair of new consoles to its Nintendo Switch Online service – with games from the Game Boy and GBA now available through the subscription service.

As with the SNES and NES libraries, a number of classic GB and GBA games are available at launch, with several more to be added over the coming months.

While the Game Boy Games will be available in a standard Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, the GBA titles will require a subscription to the Expansion Pass upgrade.

Here’s the games on offer at launch, as well as some of the titles teased for the coming months:

The Game Boy games come with some additional features – similar to the NES and SNES ones on the service. They include save states, the ability to rewind the last few minutes and even online multiplayer.

New features specific to the Game Boy games include optional screen filters, so you can see how the game would’ve looked with original, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Pocket visuals.

Nintendo has now also announced that Metroid Fusion will be available with the GBA catalog on March 9. After the reveal and subsequent release of Metroid Prime on the Switch, fans of the popular Nintendo franchise are surely enjoying the continuous stream of good news since another popular title is set to grace the beloved handheld console.

As with the Game Boy games, the GBA titles include the ability to rewind gameplay, save state support and – where appropriate – online and local multiplayer. You can also choose to play the NA or the European versions.
