One of the most celebrated games on the Game Boy Advance will soon be available to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members next week. This will be the first addition to the line of Game Boy Advance games available via Nintendo Switch Online since these games launched on the service last month.

It was revealed in the February 2022 Nintendo Direct that Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members will have access to select Game Boy Advance games, the first batch of which included The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgames!, and Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga. Soon after, Nintendo stated that there is no set schedule for when new Game Boy Advance games will come to Switch which left many Expansion Pack members wondering when more games would be added.

Fans got their answer earlier today with the announcement that Metroid Fusion will be available through Nintendo Switch Online on March 9. This announcement was not a major surprise to many as Metroid Fusion was previously listed as the first game that would be added to the list of Game Boy Advance games playable on Nintendo Switch. The release date was revealed through a new trailer that strongly highlights Metroid Fusion's horror elements best exemplified by the SA-X enemy that serves as an antagonist in the game's story.

Like other Game Boy Advance games, Metroid Fusion has gotten relatively few rereleases. It had previously been available on the Wii U Virtual Console and as one of the 10 Game Boy Advance games available through the 3DS Ambassador Program which was available to those who bought the 3DS before its price cut. Now that Metroid Fusion has a set release date for Nintendo Switch Online, fans can now look forward to the rerelease of Kirby and the Amazing Mirror which will be able to take advantage of the streamlined multiplayer available through Nintendo Switch Online.

Nintendo has timed this rerelease of Metroid Fusion well given the recent release of Metroid Prime Remastered. With these two titles now on Switch, the Switch is one step closer to being home to the entire Metroid series with the exception of spin-offs. This bodes well when it comes to building more excitement toward Metroid Prime 4 which has not been featured in a Nintendo Direct since 2017. Until there is more to see of Metroid Prime 4, Metroid fans will still have plenty to enjoy on Nintendo Switch.

Metroid Fusion releases for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack on March 9.
