The New World team, in another Forged in Aeternum video, takes us behind the scenes of the new Legacy of Crassus event that begins tomorrow, the design process for the bosses, and more.

The Legacy of Crassus is going big, with some historically-influenced elements, like Legionnaire concepts, and two specific repeatable boss challenges you can take on. The team goes into the boss design process, centered on the event. Specifically, they reimagined Crassus having two trusted centurions that were loyal, but after the 19th Legion was corrupted, because Aeternum is a special place, they were transformed into giant monstrous cyclops. Also because Aeternum is a special place, and their loyalty still exists, they’re coming to try and spread the Roman force across Aeternum.

“The idea of these two formerly noble centurions rampaging through the island determined to carry out their master’s last wish was a nice tragic twist and made these bosses stand out from regular Corrupted monsters,” Narrative Designer Aaron de Orive adds in the devblog accompanying the new video.

One of the ways this event will be different is that they will be rewarding a core set of named gear that you'll be able to collect piece by piece every day. They’ve designed this so that you won't receive any duplicate items. You'll be able to get the Legendary items that you're missing, piece by piece, provided you accept the daily challenge during the event and beat the bosses.

Even though you can only get one Legendary piece per day, these encounters are repeatable, and If you complete them more than once a day, you'll be able to get level appropriate consumables, or some higher rarity, even Named items. There is a chance to get a drop from any location in the game that will get you a named item, but you'll have a greater chance of named items from Decimus and Lucanus’ homeland, Brimstone Sands.

Find out more about the design process behind Legacy of Crassus, and the invading forces that will be live from tomorrow through March 7th over at New World.
