After over a year, an artist finished work on a dresser themed after The Legend of Zelda. The completed dresser was embellished with personal touches and multiple references to the Zelda franchise.

Very few game series have the same degree of longevity that The Legend of Zelda has. Given that the series has existed for nearly 40 years, it should be no surprise that most gamers have their own personal history with the franchise. This can be from playing one of the series' many entries which span across a good chunk of Nintendo's history or from seeing the franchise be referenced in other games such as Super Smash Bros. With Tears of the Kingdom being less than 100 days from release, anticipation from the game's fanbase is running high.

Given that the Zelda series is known for having large gaps of time between entries, the lead-up to a new Zelda game is a period in which fan creations based on the series tend to become particularly prominent. Some are based on fan-favorite Zelda games such as one fan who made a poster based on Death Mountain from Ocarina of Time, but other fans have made things that take from different parts of the franchise's history. One artist known as by.the.ash.tree on Instagram has taken the latter approach by making a Zelda-themed dresser as a gift for their brother.

By.the.ash.tree posted a time-lapse of their work on the dresser on their Instagram page and shared a photo of the dresser on the Zelda subreddit. Their progress video, filmed over the course of a year, shows them drawing and painting each side of the dresser by hand while including allusions to multiple games in the series. These include buildings taken from the overworld of the recently reverse-engineered A Link to the Past, a drawing of Majora's Mask from the Nintendo 64 game of the same name, as well as the classic, "it's dangerous to go alone, take this," dialogue from the original Zelda game on the NES.

Nintendo has some of the longest-running game franchises under its belt, many of which are beloved by multiple generations of gamers. The Legend of Zelda is one of the biggest examples of this as Zelda games are some of the most celebrated and popular games of all time and continue to sell well with Breath of the Wild being one of the ten best-selling Switch games. Fan works like this serve as proof of how much significance The Legend of Zelda continues to hold for gamers around the world, something that is sure to continue for years to come.
