Emmy award winner Phoebe Waller-Bridge has apparently been tapped to lead an Amazon adaptation of Tomb Raider. The English actress, who wrote and starred in Fleabag, is allegedly only on deck for the scripts and will not star as iconic lead character Lara Croft, according to The Hollywood Reporter. However, it’s claimed that she’ll also executive produce.

Amazon is going big on the Crystal Dynamics property, having also snapped up publishing rights to the next video game in the series. At the time of that announcement, it was alluded that a TV series could follow, and this is the first we’re hearing about the juggernaut’s plans. A second Tomb Raider movie starring Alicia Vikander was at one point planned, but was scrapped due to licensing issues.

The likes of The Last of Us and The Witcher have proven recently that video games can make successful transitions to TV, with both franchises proving humongous hits for HBO and Netflix respectively. Amazon wants to get in on the action, and has also signed a deal with PlayStation Productions to bring God of War to Prime Video.
