The third seven-star Tera raid in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet arrived, with Greninja the Unrivaled stepping into the spotlight. The new raid followed after Charizard and Cinderace were the targets for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players to battle and catch.Known as the Frog Ninja Pokemon, Greninja is the fully evolved form of Froakie, the Water-type starter from Pokemon X and Y. Greninja the Unrivaled in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet grants the Mightiest Mark upon defeating it, and it will have the Poison Tera-type despite originally being a Water and Dark dual-type. With a versatile move pool, an equally potent attack, and special attack statistics, Greninja has historically been a mixed sweeper and a glass cannon in most Pokemon teams. This spread is on full display in this new seven-star Tera raid event.RELATED: Pokemon Fan Shows Off Impressive Pixel TattooGreninja the Unrivaled will be available from 0:00 UTC, Friday, January 27 until 23:59 UTC, Sunday, January 29. The event will have a repeat run two weeks later, from February 10 to February 12. Thanks to Greninja not having Battle Bond as its ability, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players that are able to defeat and catch the Frog Ninja Pokemon will be able to produce Froakie eggs by having a picnic with Greninja and a Ditto. When caught, Greninja will have Protean as its ability and have a nature that favors special defense at the cost of its speed statistic.

As for the battle against Greninja the Unrivaled, it will use Double Team and Toxic Spikes at the start. These moves will respectively increase Greninja's evasion and cover the battlefield in spikes that will poison enemy Pokemon when they are brought into battle. This means when a Pokemon is sent back in after recovering from fainting, it will immediately be poisoned unless it is the Steel or Poison-type or has an item or ability to negate it. Greninja's move pool consists of Hydro Pump, Gunk Shot, Night Slash, and Ice Beam. With two physical and two special attacks apiece, this leans into Greninja's reputation as a fast and versatile attacker. Prior to this new seven-star raid in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, players had already formed strategies to combat Greninja, using Pokemon such as Clodsire and Gastrodon to endure and counter some of Greninja's kit.

In addition, Slowbro has already proven to be a strong choice against Greninja. Previously, Slowbro came away as the MVP of the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Cinderace raids. However, Slowbro trainers should beware of Night Slash and have support ready to heal and counterattack. In addition, Lucario and Bronzong will show up in four-star and five-star raids across the Paldea region for players to catch for their collections. With many options to choose from, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players will have to be at their best if they want to defeat this newest challenge.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for Nintendo Switch.
