Nowadays, everyone seems to know the iconic Avengers, the hilarious Guardians of the Galaxy, and the expansive X-Men, but there are many lesser-known Marvel superhero teams that deserve the spotlight. Fans have gone on many different adventures with these popular teams across movies and video games, but maybe it is time that they step out of the spotlight so one of Marvel's wildest teams can take their place.

Marvel video games have the opportunity to shed light on superhero teams that may not be as popular as Avengers like Spider-Man and Iron Man; they should also be able to experience the adventures of less-popular characters. One of those adventures could follow the Great Lakes Avengers as they fight against an even odder villain. This could lead to a brand-new type of game that is unlike any video game Marvel has delivered before, and it would be a wild ride from beginning to end.

The Great Lakes Avengers are Perfect Stars For a Wild Marvel Game

The Great Lakes Avengers are often considered one of Marvel's oddest teams. They were first introduced in West Coast Avengers vol. 2 #46, and would appear a couple more times throughout the years. They also starred in two of their own comic book series, and have had smaller cameos in additional Marvel Comics properties. While they have never been a very popular team, their wackiness would make for a unique game.

The Great Lakes Avengers get their name from the Great Lakes area of the United States, and they have been headquartered in many cities across the Midwest. They are pretty much the only Marvel team that operates in that part of the country, so using this setting would be a nice break from streets of New York City. It would not only be a breath of fresh air for superhero titles, but it would also serve as a unique setting for video games in general, as very few titles are set in that region.

The members of the Great Lakes Avengers would also provide superhero fans a new type of experience. Players have gotten used to swinging through the streets as Spider-Man, flying across the skies as Iron Man, and beating down their foes with a shield as Captain America. But players have not been able to experience the rapid healing of Mr. Immortal, the stretchiness of Flatman, or the immense strength of Big Bertha.

The Great Lakes Avengers' founding members Mr. Immortal, Dinah Soar, Big Bertha, Flatman, and Doorman represent some of the strangest heroes that Marvel has ever created. Characters like Squirrel Girl, Grasshopper, and Monkey Joe have also all considered themselves members at some point. Even Deadpool got involved, but his membership did not last very long. Each of these characters is unique, and would contribute to a hilarious superhero adventure.

It is unlikely that the Great Lakes Avengers will ever get a video game, and they may never appear together in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, it could be a fun treat if they did get to star in their own title. Even if it is a short, 10-hour adventure, a Great Lakes Avengers game feels like the perfect departure from the rest of the genre. It would be unlike anything Marvel has made before, and it would finally spotlight one of the wackier sides of comic books.
