For those who are struggling to play nice in Cyberpunk 2077, there's a new mod available that will actually punish the player if they decide to murder an NPC. It's been quite the journey for the dystopian sci-fi RPG, but with the game now in a much better state than it was when it launched at the end of 2020, fans have been returning to the game. On top of that, with the lawsuit brought against CD Projekt Red finally settling for $1.85 million, hopefully the Polish developer will be able to put the ugliness behind it and move forward.

There have also been some rumors recently that Cyberpunk 2077 could be coming to Xbox Game Pass. However, a deeper dive into a leaked image which apparently hinted at the game coming to the Microsoft service showed that this information was a lot older than first meets the eye. With that in mind, it doesn't look as though CDPR's release will be on Game Pass, but that won't stop fans from being hopeful. The game itself has enjoyed a resurgence after numerous significant updates fixed many of the initial problems, and there's also been plenty of mods to keep things fresh.

As seen by PCGamesN, Nexus Mods user Reverend Ursa has released "Instant Karma" for Cyberpunk 2077. Essentially, when this modification is installed and turned on, players will be forced to live a peaceful life in Night City because, if they murder anyone, the game will kill them in return. However, according to the description, this is only for human NPCs, so non-human kills won't count. It also doesn't take into account kills done when the player switches to Johnny Silverhand. Fortunately, incapacitations will also not trigger the karma-based mod.

Despite the game's gritty nature and depictions of violence, it is possible to do a pacifist run of Cyberpunk 2077, though there are exceptions, such as during some storyline moments. It's certainly challenging, especially for those who prefer the guns blazing approach in their open-world games. So something like the "Instant Karma" mod would be a great way of forcing the player's hand and making them rethink how they resolve situations.

Cyberpunk 2077 also has numerous romance options, so the game isn't just about carnage and mindless violence. As with any great role-playing game, players benefit from having multiple paths and choices. And while there's no denying that CD Projekt Red's release does not shy away from savagery, some like the idea of going against the grain and trying a more peaceful route.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
