Mobile gamers will now finally be able to access Stardew Valley's update 1.5 content, which should be available worldwide by now. Having originally come out for PC and home consoles back in 2020, update 1.5 featured a huge batch of extra content. The developer, Eric Barone, compared it to a veritable expansion pack rather than a simple content update. As exciting as the update may have been for some, it's been completely inaccessible for mobile gamers up until now. Indeed, none of the stuff added in Stardew Valley's update 1.5 launched on Android and iOS in any capacity, and it would take years until Eric Barone and his team of programmers finally had a chance to push 1.5 to mobile platforms.RELATED: Stardew Valley Dev Tries to Clarify What Exactly is in Pierre's DisplayOne of the most popular indie darlings in the entire gaming industry, Stardew Valley has made a name for itself by being a cozy, approachable farming RPG that's aged like fine wine. Its mobile version were met with about as much acclaim as when it came out on PC, with the only real downside being that Eric Barone, ConcernedApe, didn't have the chance to continuously update it alongside PC and console builds. Now, however, Android and iOS gamers can enjoy version parity with PC and consoles in Stardew Valley, as update 1.5 has been rolling out worldwide over the past couple of days.

What's particularly impressive about update 1.5 on mobile devices is that it includes an almost total rewrite of the game. According to ConcernedApe, this means that the upcoming Stardew Valley update 1.6 will be a lot easier to deploy on Android and iOS devices. In other words, it shouldn't take literal years for mobile gamers to be able to enjoy a cutting-edge version of Stardew, which is a huge boon all on its own.

Of course, it may be worth noting that the mobile update 1.5 for Stardew Valley got delayed late in 2022. While it was possible for ConcernedApe to push it out before 2022 came to a close, he opted to hold it for an additional layer of polish instead, accepting "full responsibility" for not being able to hit the originally targeted release date. Thankfully, the gambit paid off, and the mobile gaming community is sure to be happy to have a bunch of new Stardew content ready to go.

Stardew Valley is extremely popular on Steam Deck, too. ConcernedApe's seminal indie hit made its way onto the top 20 list of most-played Deck games in December 2022. While the device is bulky and somewhat unwieldy compared to a mobile phone, it provides a substantially better gaming experience across the board, and it's a perfect fit for games such as Stardew Valley in particular.

Stardew Valley is out now on Android, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
