World of Warcraft has had a bit of a villain problem in recent years, as many fans were upset with the way that Blizzard handled the Jailer, but that seems to be changing with Dragonflight. While the Jailer was supposed to be an intimidating force, many players felt like his motivations were unclear, and that the conflict was significantly underdeveloped. This has made many World of Warcraft players weary of the future of Azeroth, but Dragonflight has not disappointed so far.

Dragonflight has brought World of Warcraft back to a simple old-school Azeroth story, and the playerbase seems to be loving it. It has stripped away the convoluted plots of the past and replaced them with a fun adventure through new lands. The main villains are not seeking to reshape reality, and they are not shrouded in mystery. They are simply a collection of powerful beings known as The Primalists that want one thing: to rid the world of the Titans' stain.

Who are the Primalists?

The Primalists serve as the main antagonist of Dragonflight, and they are a constant presence throughout the leveling campaign. They are the foot soldiers of the Primal Incarnates, and they utilize powerful elemental magic to achieve their goals. They were once followers of the great proto-dragon Galakrond, but were ultimately defeated by the Dragon Aspects. The Primal Incarnates were imprisoned by the Aspects, and the Primalists were left in shambles.

The Primalists had not been heard from for centuries, but they appeared once more after the war against the Jailer. This version of the Primalists is composed of various races across Azeroth, and they are led by the powerful Tauren Kurog Grimtotem. At the start of Dragonflight, these new Primalists invaded the Forbidden Reach and broke Raszageth the Storm-Eater out of her prison. They then lashed out against the forces of Azeroth, and began to fight back against the Aspects again across the Dragon Isles.

What do the Primalists Want?

The goal of the Primalists is pretty simple, and that is what makes them so interesting. Their primary mission is to rid Azeroth of the Titans' stain and make the mortals subservient to dragonkind. They believe that everyone should follow the dragons due to their sheer power, and that the Titans misled the world. They will do whatever they can to fight back against the Aspects, and the player has to do all they can to stop them.

The Primalists main goal in Dragonflight so far has been to free the other Primal Incarnates that have been locked away in the Vault of the Incarnates. The armies of the Primalists have caused major disruptions in every zone on the Dragon Isles, and have been reshaping the land in their image. They have also spent a lot of time stealing dragon and proto-dragon eggs to imbue them with elemental energies to bolster their forces. Their powerful army has been able to back the Aspects into a corner, and their forces were able to reach the entrance to the Vault.

This conflict came to a head recently with the opening of the Vault of the Incarnates raid. The raid sees the Primalists push into the prison of the Primal Incarnates, and the players are tasked with stopping them. They successfully kill Raszageth the Storm-Eater, but not before she frees the rest of her family. The raid ends with the other three Primal Incarnates breaking free, and heading off to unleash devastation across the Dragon Isles. This has made the Primalists forces even stronger, and has made the Dragon Aspects' war for the Dragon Isles look even more desperate
