The side job "Chippin' In" in Cyberpunk 2077 is a late-game job that players can only access just before the ending. It's also a critical turning point in the game, because not one but two of Cyberpunk 2077's endings will unlock depending on what the player does.

"Chippin' In" begins at the same time as the main job "Nocturne OP55N1," which is the last main job before the point of no return. During a job called "Tapeworm," Johnny Silverhand will suggest going to see his old friend Rogue and to let him take the wheel for the conversation. The job begins when V enters the Afterlife bar and talks to Johnny.

In spite of his promises, Johnny doesn't go straight to Rogue. Instead, he leads the player on a rapid-fire sequence that goes all across Night City and ends with V lying in a motel bed and nursing a hangover. Still, Johnny gets some useful information and eventually gives it to Rogue. At this point, players must wait 24 hours for the next part of the job to begin. Once Rogue calls, head back to the Afterlife.

The Ebunike

Cyberpunk 2077 Ebunike

After meeting in the bar, Rogue drives V to a cargo ship called the Ebunike. The game will skip ahead to night if it's daytime, but after that the two will infiltrate a dock area controlled by Maelstrom. Rogue will want to go in stealthy, but players can use whatever method they prefer. After the docks, players will board the Ebunike and fight Grayson, a subordinate of Adam Smasher. Grayson will talk after his defeat, and V can choose to kill him or let him live. Either way, the conversation will upset Rogue and cause her to leave. However, stealthy players can find several points of interest on the ship that Rogue will comment on if she's still around:

  • A weapon cache Smasher's crew stole from Kang Tao.
  • A body executed by Smasher. Note that combat will trigger before V can reach it even while in stealth, but Rogue will still comment on it if V scans the body.
  • A couple audio files on a computer. Unfortunately, the computer is also past the point where combat begins and the only way to hear them is during the fighting. Once Grayson and the gang members go down, the files are unplayable.
  • Several boxes full of drugs. These are also past the combat trigger.

After dealing with Grayson, the last thing to do in the docks is pick up Johnny Silverhand's old Porsche. Grayson will explain how to get it if he's spared, but players can still get the car by taking an access key from his body, climbing up the crane tower next to the ship, and hitting a button that releases a cargo container. The access key will open the container and let V ride to the nearby oil fields in style.

A Heart-To-Heart In The Fields

Cyberpunk 2077 Johnny Morose

This conversation with Johnny is the most important moment of this side job. To get access to both the Rogue ending and the secret ending, V has to criticize Johnny but still give him another chance. The three important options are:

  • "Nah, fucked that up too."
  • "What do you want from me?"
  • "OK. But as second chances go, this is your last."

After talking, the side job "Blistering Love" will start, and playing through it will open up Rogue's ending. However, the secret ending is now available even if the player goes immediately to "Nocturne OP55N1."

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
