After finishing the events at Britannia Station, Sports Story players automatically end up in their hotel room with a new task in hand, to meet Britannia at the train station. Before doing so, however, players should visit PureStrike mall and turn in any punch tickets. We were able to get our Class A License at this point.
Meet Britannia Silver at the Whistlington Train Station
The train station is to the left of Rustling Vale. Speak to the woman with purple hair, and then the train will take players to the next major area, Pelican Waters. Soon after stepping off the train, players will get another task from an NPC to find someone named Ratley.
Before anything, head southeast of the canning place and walk across wood over the water to reach a box with an Old Train Key inside. We’ll end up needing this later.
Speak to the NPC nearby with the arrows over their head to initiate a bike challenge. Get to the end of the path without falling into the water to get a punch for the License Punch Card and a Biking Medal.
Then, head southeast to find a fisherman pulling in a big fish. Help him out to get a Yellowtail.
Take the Yellowtail to the Sushi man at the food truck at the Pelican Waters entrance sign. He’ll give players some Tuna.
Now, take the Tuna to the canner south of the main entrance to get Canned Tuna. Next, head south to find an NPC on the dock with two arrows above his head.
Trade him the Canned Tuna to get the Sinker Tackle.
How to Get a Fishing Rod
Before anything else, we should also get a Fishing Rod at the pro shop. The shop is inside the large building just a little southeast of the main entrance. Players can buy the Golfer’s Rod for $19.50. They’ll also get a Bobber.
Speak to Ratley
Inside the pro shop, players will find Ratley standing next to the cashier. He’s wearing what appears to be a black ninja outfit.
Next, head outside the shop and go to the dock to speak to the fisherman in the yellow coat.
He’ll give players Worm Bait x3 and will want them to catch the coddler in the water by pressing the Y button and choosing the worm bait.
Make sure to throw the line right on top of the fish, or else it won’t reach for the bait. Now that players have the Coddler, walk up the dock and give it to the fisherman. He’ll give players $5.
Find a Green Man who wants a Coddler
Head west of the shop to find the man in the green coat standing on some metal poles on the water. He’ll take the Coddler off your hands.
Catch a Gilligan
Next, he wants players to catch a Gilligan, which is the fish right below him in the water. He mentions they don’t like sour bait. We were able to catch it just fine with Shrimp. Give the fish to the fisherman, and he’ll give players some cash. Now, he'll mention that a man in a red coat would love to take the Gilligan.
Find the Red Man Who Wants a Gilligan
Look on the docks in the southwestern section of the area (south of the canning place) to find a red fisherman. Show him the Gilligan, and then catch a Salmon. We used worm bait for this one. Show the man the fish, and he will give you $10.
If players are running low on bait, there’s a bait shop next to the canning station.
Search the bait box on the southern end of the blue tarp.
Find a Blue Man who Wants a Salmon
Next, we’re going to go to the southeastern corner of the area to find the man in blue near a lighthouse. Give him the Salmon and then go to the nearby water to catch a Boglet.
However, players will need to switch to the Sinker before they can catch one.
To switch it, open the menu with the + button, go to the status screen, head to Tackle on the bottom, and then click it to switch it to Sinker. We then caught the Boglet using Popcorn bait.
Give the Boglet back to the fisherman to get $11.99. He’ll tell players to give fish to Old Cam Roddard at the fishing shop.
Bring Fish to Cameron Roddard
Now that we know the locations of Coddler, Gilligan, and Boglets (crabs can be found by interacting with the buoys around town), we can start to collect them for the fishing shop guy.
Players need to collect 4 Coddlers, 2 Gilligans, 2 Boglets, and two Crabs. Keep searching around town for fish shadows in the water until all of these are found. You can refer to our images below to see where we found them. Once you bring them back to the shop, you’ll get the Angers Rod.
Now, if Sports Story players head north of the fishing shop, they’ll come across a somewhat hidden path that leads to the Old Train Tracks.
With the Old Train Key we picked up earlier, players can unlock the door on the train to find a Boat Coupon. Head inside the train and keep walking right to reach a man that has a putting challenge for players. Complete it to get a punch on the punch card.
Now, complete the golfing challenge from the girl with the yellow hat standing in front of the fishing shop.
After, she wants players to find a boat for them to go on an expedition. Head south of the girl’s position to find another NPC standing under a green tarp near a tied-up boat.
Give them three Coddlers and then take part in a golfing challenge. Players will need to get the ball close to the goal to earn 30 points. Miss too much, and players will lose the challenge. After winning, players will get a punch for their Punch Card.
Find Longtrout in Pelican Waters
Head back to the fish shop and speak to Longtrout, who is hiding out in the corner to the right. After speaking to them, players will now have to find Chase Codsworth.
Speak to Chase Codsworth
See the girl with the yellow hat in front of the fishing shop? Hop on the blue circles to the right of her to reach a small house.
Chase Codsworth is the man in the back. When given a choice during the conversation, choose “offer to go” and then speak with Chase outside.
Catch a Selection of Fish for Chase/ Catch a Thawedfish / Find Somebody to Take the Boglet
Players will now need to catch these fish for Chase.
- 2 Gilligan
- 2 Salmon
- 2 Thawedfish
The first two are simple, but to get Thawedfish, players should head to the train tracks up north and look east to find a fisherman that wants a Boglet.
In return for the Boglet, he’ll reveal nearby Thawedfish for players to catch. We used Shrimp bait for this one.
Show the fisherman the fish, and he’ll give players a wad of cash. And now, players can catch Thawedfish at other locations.
Take all the fish back to Chase to get the Offering. However, before players can present the offering to the Dark Shores, we need to find a boat.
Find a Boat Suitable for an Expedition
Go back to the big houseboat near the front entrance of Pelican Waters.
Speak to the man in black, and he’ll let players use the boat, but he needs $500. Luckily, we picked up that boat coupon back at the old train yard, so the total price will only come out to $50. Now go back and tell Chase the good news. Then, speak to the boat guy again to finally board.
Once you land, follow Chase to the path leading north and then offer the fish to the fish god by putting the boxes on the pedestal. Once the cutscene ends, return to the captain.
Catch a Honey Cod
Head to the path leading east. In the next area, hit all the apples into the water to make the Honey Cod appear in the middle. We were able to catch it using Shrimp bait.
Show the captain that you managed to catch the Honey Cod and then take it north to offer it to the so-called fish god. He’ll fall into the hole due to a sticky hand malfunction. Now, enter the door to the north that’s been opened.
Find Chase in the Dungeon
In the room with the pots and a locked door, interact with the middle right pot to find a little ghost-looking creature. Pick it up and take it to the blue circle. Putt it north to make it fall into the hole. The door on the right will slide open.
In the next room, keep right to find two tentacles blocking a key. Instead, push the block north and enter the room to the left. Keep going left past the door with the lock. Interact with the pot next to the blue circle to get another ghost. Putt it in the hole like last time.
A gate in the room will open. Enter the unlocked area and investigate the two jars to find cash and a little blue ghost guy. Pick it up and throw it at the eye that’s looking through the hole in the wall. This will get rid of the tentacles.
If players walk north, they’ll see a large crack in the floor. We stepped on it, and it made us fall into a trap room with a puzzle.
Get on the platform leading north, and in the next area, check the pot by the locked gate to pick up a yellow ghost. Place it into the machine on the right and then push it to make it land on the yellow spot.
This will unlock the gate nearby, allowing players to find a purple ghost in the pot. Put it into the machine and then slide it onto the purple tile. The big gate will open now, and players will find Chase locked up in a cage. After the interaction, leave and continue to the right.
In this next puzzle room, check the pot below to find a purple ghost. Put two of them into the two machines and then slide them on the purple tiles.
The door will open, leading to a staircase bringing us back to the main floor. Check the pot in the corner to find a blue creature –toss it at the monster’s eye to get rid of the tentacles.
Grab the Dungeon Key and head back to the locked door, one screen left.
In the next puzzle room, grab the white creature from the pot and tee up to make it fall into the hole on the right side of the room. The gate will unlock. Pick up the blue creature from the pot and toss it at the monster once again. Pull the fish lever to open the big door.
In the next room, pick up the white creature from the pot and tee up at the blue circle. Knock it into the hole north of you, being careful to avoid the algae.
We had trouble getting it past the algae, but we were able to reach the pot at the bottom of the room by interacting with it through the wall, as seen in the image below. We've also realized that there is a hidden switch underneath the algae to the left of the locked door. So step on it and open the door to pick up the creature from the pot without using the help of the glitch.
Players can then take the blue creature and toss it at the algae to get rid of it. This might be a bug, so players might not be able to do this if it gets patched. The door to the north will open once the puzzle is complete. Head to the room to the right once the fish dude jumps into the water.
Push the ramp so that it aligns with the blue circle and smack the ghost into the hole. Head left, press on the fish switch, and then head back around to pick up the Dungeon Key.
Continue left to have an interaction with the fish man. Players will notice that the fish head is missing its Dorsal Fin. Head down and left to reach a new room. Use the blue creature in the pot to destroy some of the algae in the area.
Take one of the creatures to the blue tee spot and smack it towards the angled wall so that it falls into the square hole.
Use the key on the cage to save the man, and then he’ll give players the Dorsal Fin to unlock the door we passed by earlier. Go through the door near the fish lever to reach a new puzzle room.
Take the white ghost from the pot, stand on the blue circle, and try to put it against the wall to the left so that it bounces towards the square hole. Take the blue creature from the other pot and destroy the monster's eye. Head right and stand on the fish button to reveal a new path leading upstairs. Check the two pots in front of the door before heading up to find some cash.
After a brief cutscene, head into the left room. Avoid the green creatures and grab the blue creature from the pot below.
Throw it at the eye to continue north. Enter the open cage to find another Dorsal Fin. Players will get locked inside but will be freed by the guy you just helped escape. Now, head out to the upper right exit, passing through the next room and continuing right to find the fish man again. Head right once more, down, and then left again.
Players will need a key to free the guy in the cage, so go south from his position. Avoid the green monsters, grab the blue creature from the pot, and toss it at the eye. Grab the Dungeon Key and unlock the cage. Now, help the man pull the Dorsal Fin to unlock the big door ahead.
Another confrontation will happen with the fish guy. Players need to grab the creature from the pot on the left and carry it to the machine on the right. Then push it onto the purple tile. Chase after the fish through the door to the north.
In the next room, use the blue creature to get rid of the algae, and then shoot the purple creature into the hole. Now keep the chase going.
After fighting the fish again, players will get the Sticky Hand. Use it as bait and throw it into the black hole on the right. It’ll pull something out and scare the fish man away. Exit out the fish mouth and then head to the room on the right with the locked door and the lever that’s in the middle of some water.
Use the Sticky Hand to pull the lever. Players will find another Dungeon Key in the following room.
Head a few steps back to the location where the locked cage is. It’s in the same big room where the huge locked door is that we haven't opened yet. The guy in the cage will then head to the big door to help players open it up.
For the squid boss fight, players just need to use their Sticky Hand to pull the four corks out of the fountains. Once the water is clean, use the can as a teeing spot and hit the squid with it. It’ll shrink, and players can walk up to it and throw it into the water.
Once it’s defeated, it’ll drop another Dungeon Key. Head out of the room to find Chase’s cage and free him once and for all.
