The Warhammer games are over-the-top, hard to play with friends, and fun for all sorts of players. The first-person shooter genre is a play style that the Warhammer games have perfected. The latest release in the series, Warhammer 40k: Darktide, takes the co-op fun and the large quantities of enemies descending on players from Vermintide 2, and mixes in fluid melee combat.

Much like Warhammer: Vermintide 2, the game has classes and works in different ways. This allows all players to contribute something to the overall goal. Warhammer 40k: Darktide features the same class archetypes, which act the same way. But the main thing that stands out is the weapons. Certain classes are great at using certain weapons, and may not excel with others. There are many ranged weapons in Warhammer 40k: Darktide. The following weapons are the best choices for each of the classes in the game.

Ogryn: Skullbreaker

Krourk Mk V Twin-Linked Heavy Stubber

warhammer Krourk Mk V Twin-Linked Heavy Stubber

The Orgyn Skullbreaker class is the tank of Warhammer 40k: Darktide. This LMG highlights that type of play style. It's available at level 20, so when players get it, they'll already be rather good at the meta.

Like Vermintide 2, Darktide has many enemies appearing onscreen at once. Pairing the tank abilities of this class with an LMG that has little recoil, high damage, and a high ammo count can easily manage these numbers. Plus, going up against the bigger enemy types becomes easier, because the Krourk Mk V Twin-Linked Heavy Stubber will go through those enemies quickly.

Lorenz Mk VI Rumbler

warhammer Lorenz Mk VI Rumbler

What makes Orgyn Skullbreaker a fun character to play is that players can cause so much chaos, and take little damage. This quality, along with the class's abilities, makes each level easy. With the Lorenz Mk VI Rumbler, things can get even more entertaining. It's a grenade launcher, simple as that. This type of weapon is great for a game like Warhammer 40k: Darktide because it can create breathing room, and help the team escape if things get too chaotic.

The Lorenz Mk VI Rumbler is great for follow-up attacks. While it doesn't do good damage on one single enemy, the splash damage is where it stands out. If the rest of the team can combo with the Lorenz Mk VI Rumbler, the hordes become easy to beat.

Lorenz Mk V Kickback

This is the default shotgun the Skullbreaker gets, and it shoots out one bullet before it needs to be reloaded. This aspect benefits the tank a lot more than the other characters, because a tank can take more damage. Using this at close range is devastating, downing most enemies in one shot.

As mentioned before, this takes one bullet, and then the player needs to reload. But after players do a large amount of damage, the rest of the team can finish the job. This can give the Skullbreaker time to reload. With no recoil and high damage, this shotgun is a weapon players can use for a long time, even in the late game.

Psyker: Psykinetic

Kantrael Infantry Autogun

warhammer Kantrael Infantry Autogun

This class is considered the mage of Warhammer 40k: Darktide, and relies mostly on their staves because their best attacks come from that. Players who use the Psykinetic class will mostly use their melee powers. However, the ranged weapons can be helpful, depending on how players use them.

This autogun is a great fallback weapon to have. It has great range, so those who play this class won't be in danger as much. Plus, headshots are an instant kill. Even better, it unlocks at level 10, so players can get their hands on this weapon early.

Scout Lasgun

The Psykinetic shares many of the same qualities as Sienna Fuegonasus from Warhammer: Vermintide 2. They are both mages, and players may want to use their melee weapons since they can be better. However, the Scout Lasgun can make the Psykinetic a versatile class that can switch between attack types.

This gun has a farther range than Kantrael Infantry Autogun, and a slightly higher fire rate as well. When enemies are overwhelming the team, this weapon can keep smaller enemies at bay due to its high damage output.

Veteran: Sharpshooter

Vraks MK VII Headhunter Autogun

warhammer Vraks MK VII Headhunter Autogun

Since this class uses mostly ranged weapons, all ranged weapons pretty strong in the Sharpshooter's hands. Plus, this class is self-reliant to a certain degree. This weapon highlights that. The Vraks MK VII Headhunter Autogun is one of the best guns this class can get. If players shoot at an enemy, it will do moderate damage, but the follow-up attack will do massive damage.

The high damage and low recoil is much needed when things get tough. On top of that, it's available at level 14. If players grind a lot, or play the high-level raids early, unlocking this gun will be a quick process.

Accatran MG MK II Heavy Laspistol

warhammer Accatran MG MK II Heavy Laspistol

This pistol is highly accurate and highly deadly at the same time, and when the hordes of unlimited enemies are scrambling toward the team, the accuracy counts for more. This weapon isn't available until level 20, so players will have to grind to get to it.

When it's unlocked, things do change for the better. Being highly accurate, every shot will hit something, giving the team fewer enemies to deal with. It's also a great gun for running and fighting, since it can create breathing room for the Sharpshooter.

Zealot: Preacher

Lawbringer Mark VI Combat Shotgun

warhammer Lawbringer Mark VI Combat Shotgun

For a class that can fight in close quarters, but with more speed than the Skullbreaker, the Zealot can do a lot for what it has. This class is highly efficient in melee combat and deadly with ranged weapons. This shotgun highlights those qualities. It's super powerful up close, but its range is also quite impressive because at a distance, the damage is still strong.

If players utilize the close-quarters combat of this class, this weapon's splash damage can give them and the team much-needed breathing room for the tougher enemies.

Artemia MK III Purgation Flamer

warhammer Artemia MK III Purgation Flamer Cropped-1

This weapon is one of the more interesting ranged weapons players can get in Warhammer 40k: Darktide. It acts like a flamethrower, but also an assault rifle. Players shoot at enemies, and shots will damage, but the real effect comes from the fire damage this does.

Fire damages enemies over time, which is great for a team that's trying to control the fight. It can take down bigger enemies in seconds. This weapon is a great way to keep enemies away from not just the Zealot, but also the whole team. It's a great crowd-control weapon.

Agripinaa Mk VIII Braced Autogun

warhammer Agripinaa Mk VIII Braced Autogun

As mentioned before, the Zealot is great in close quarters. This autogun, much like the shotgun, works best when used closer to the enemy, because of its accuracy. It falls at a distance, so players won't be able to hit the headshots as often.

But if the user is in close range, the impact becomes devastating. Headshots come easier, and damage goes down faster as well. The bosses and bigger enemies take time to take down, but with this weapon, a few headshots and the job is done.

Warhammer 40k: Darktide is available now on PC and is in development on the Xbox Series X/S.
