Pokemon Scarlet & Violet have been out for almost a month, giving fans a chance to explore the Paldea region and all it has to offer. With the new generation, wild Pokemon are now all found in the overworld rather than through random encounters. This gives players more freedom with the Pokemon they catch and battle throughout their adventure.

However, some players may be determined to catch Pokemon of one type, such as Fighting. The type offers a lot of competitive benefits, with access to powerful moves like Close Combat and Bulk Up. There's plenty of great Fighting-type Pokemon to catch in Scarlet & Violet, especially if you look in one of these six locales in Paldea.

6 South Province (Area Four)

The opening areas of the game contain a lot of Fighting-type Pokemon to find. Pawmi, the region's Pikachu clone, is an Electric-type Pokemon that quickly evolves into the Electric/Fighting-types Pawmo and Pawmot. Other nearby Pokemon include Flamigo, a Flying/Fighting-type, and Mankey, which evolves into Primeape and then Annihilape.

Gaining upgrades for your Ride Pokemon will also allow players to access different Pokemon in these early areas. Hawlucha, who first appeared in Pokemon X & Y, can be found via this method west of Poco Path. Riolu, who evolves into the Fighting/Steel-type Lucario, can also be a rare spawn close to the river separating Area Four and Area Two.

5 East Province (Area Two)

A Fighting-type Tauros in battle in Scarlet/Violet

As players get close to Levincia, there are some more Fighting-types to encounter between that town and Artazon. Makuhita, Crabrawler, and Flamigo are common spawns in this area, and if your team is underleveled, there are also some strong Flying-types in the area that can be easily caught to be used against Fighting-types, like Wattrel and Squakabilly.

This area is also where players can encounter Paldean forms of Tauros, which all sport the Fighting-type. Finally, there is one rare encounter on the island between Area Two and Zapapico: a Crabominable, the evolved form of Crabrawler that is Fighting/Ice-type. Not only is this a powerful Pokemon to get early on, but it also counters Dragon-types.

4 North Province (Area One)

A wild Gallade appearing at sunset in Scarlet/Violet

The northernmost parts of Paldea are native to some powerful Fighting-type Pokemon, particularly ones that are fully-evolved. Lurking in Area One of the North Province, right above Tagtree Thicket, players will find that Hawlucha are very common spawns. Flamigo and Pawmo, the first evolution of Pawmi, also spawn near the lake with Dratini.

Another rare but useful encounter in Area One of the North Province is Gallade, the Psychic/Fighting split evolution of Kirlia. It only spawns during the day, and at night it will be replaced by the Midnight form of Lycanroc. This Lycanroc form may be a useful alternative to Fighting-types, as it learns moves like Counter, Low Sweep, and Close Combat.

3 Porto Marinada & Asado Desert

The Great Tusk Titan appearing in Asado Desert

Upon arriving at Porto Marinada during the Gym Challenge for the Cascarrafa Gym, players will notice the frequency of Fighting-type Tauros spawning in the area, as well as Pawmi, Pawmo, Crabrawler, and Croagunk. There are plenty other Fighting-types to be discovered in the area, including the nearby Asado Desert separating Porto Marinada and Cascarrafa.

Treading into Asado Desert, players can find Makuhita and Falinks near ruins. Additionally, players of Pokemon Scarlet will have the opportunity to catch Great Tusk, a Paradox form of Donphan, after encountering it as a Titan during the Path of Legends storyline. This alternate form boasts the Ground/Fighting-typing, with some pretty insane stats.

2 Socarrat Trail

A Heracross appearing in a forest in Scarlet/Violet

Socarrat Trail is a forest located just above Casseroya Lake on the Paldea map, in the northernmost part of the region. There are many rare Pokemon in this area, including Zoroark, Spiritomb, and Mabostiff. However, players who keep wandering around will find several useful Fighting-types, including Heracross, who is Bug/Fighting.

Nearby areas north of Casseroya Lake will also lead players to encounter not only Croagunk, but its evolution Toxicroak. Both are Poison/Fighting-type, which can be very useful for players, considering that Poison can counter Fighting-type's weakness to Fairy-type Pokemon. Elsewhere, near Casseroya Lake, Hawlucha and Flamigo appear.

1 The Great Crater of Paldea

Iron Valiant in battle in Scarlet/Violet

After completing the three main missions, players will venture into the Great Crater of Paldea, where they will encounter many Paradox Pokemon. These upgraded forms of older Pokemon are version exclusives, but many of them, especially the Fighting-type ones, make for some of the best Pokemon, especially for competitive players.

In Pokemon Scarlet, players will encounter Great Tusk (Ground/Fighting), Slither Wing (Bug/Fighting, based on Volcarona), as well as the mascot Legendary Koraidon (Fighting/Dragon). In Violet, players can encounter Iron Hands (Fighting/Electric, based on Hariyama), and Iron Valiant (Fairy/Fighting, based on Gardevoir and Gallade).
