Ubisoft announced the dates of the next live test for Tom Clancy's The Division Resurgence, revealing that the invitations to the limited closed beta will start reaching select smartphone and tablet owners on December 8. This news arrives mere months after the Rainbow Six Mobile beta signaled the start of Ubisoft's major mobile push that's expected to continue throughout 2023.

Ubisoft revealed The Division Resurgence in July 2022 as a tactical multiplayer shooter exclusive to mobile devices. The upcoming game borrows a lot of elements from the mainline series, including an over-the-shoulder camera, open-world exploration, and ARPG-like gear progression. Apart from platform availability, the main difference between The Division Resurgence and the previous games in the franchise is that this mobile spinoff will be a free-to-play experience. Ubisoft already held several smaller alpha tests in the run-up to the newly announced beta.

The December 8 live test of The Division Resurgence will be the game's largest one to date. It will encompass a variety of Android devices and run until December 22. That said, not all smartphones and tablets that the developers are planning to support at launch will be included in the December beta. The easiest way for fans to tell whether their devices are part of the planned testing is to check whether they can find and pre-register for the game via the Google Play Store. Even if they manage to do so, that doesn't guarantee they'll receive an invitation to participate in this particular beta, Ubisoft warned, hinting that the game's eventual release will be preceded by more live tests.

Closed beta progress in The Division Resurgence will not carry over to the finished game, according to the official support page dedicated to the test. On the bright side, Ubisoft isn't placing any limitations on content creators, saying that they are free to record and share as much gameplay footage as they want.

The story of The Division Resurgence will be independent of the previous two entries, though it might share some locations with the 2016 The Division, given how both titles take place in New York City. Ubisoft previously promised the mobile spinoff will introduce new factions, gear, and enemies, on top of bringing back some highly popular features from the original games, including the deadly PvP environment of The Division's Dark Zone.

The Division Resurgence is just one of several Ubisoft games that are coming to mobile platforms in the near future. The company's other mobile projects include Rainbow Six Mobile and Assassin's Creed: Codename Jade, as well as another Assassin's Creed title that's set to debut as a Netflix game exclusive at some point next year.
