The developer of the survival game Primitive, Games Box, has now released the first trailer for the upcoming game. In the trailer, the player is seen traversing the various environments in different climates and fighting prehistoric beasts with primitive weaponry. The game has been created with Unreal Engine 5 which features new and improved tools for more photorealistic graphics.

Primitive is a survival game set in the Stone Age where players enter a world filled with wild creatures as well as Neanderthals and Homo sapiens. The players need to find a way to survive the inhospitable environments by improving their gear, communication, and hunting strategies. In the adventures throughout the open world of Primitive, players discover new locations untouched by humans.

In the new trailer, one can witness both the peaceful existence of herbivores minding their own business and powerful beasts from the days past created in amazingly realistic detail with Unreal Engine 5. Animals in the trailer include woolly rhinos and mammoths, fast and fierce sabertooth tigers, and massive alligators, among others. As one might imagine from various types of animals, there are also different ecosystems with specific challenges. Landscapes change from lush green forests to misty wetlands and arctic islands.

In terms of weaponry, the trailer reveals that the survivors can wield anything from a hunting bow and arrow to other Stone Age instruments like picks, spears, axes, and even what looks like a sabertooth tiger's claw. Players can also build habitation to escape the elements and triggered traps to capture and defeat wildlife. Crafting in the game allows the creation of food and healing items as well as clothing. Primitive doesn't seem to be quite a sandbox type of survival game, like ARK: Survival Evolved, and instead it will have an original storyline with the addition of random events.

The beautiful graphics are powered by Unreal Engine 5, which allows photorealistic lighting and water effects, lush greenery, and high-definition models with realistic skin, hide, and fur. The game seems to have a lot in common with survival games like ARK: Survival Evolved and Valheim. However, it's unclear how deep the PvP goes in Primitive, but given that there's a sequence on the trailer where a player character pulls an arrow out of the stomach, it's safe to say there's going to be PvP. The developers have also talked about Tribes, which suggests organizing in groups is essential.

Primitive is currently in development.
