Charizard has arrived in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, exclusively as a seven-star boss as part of the Unrivaled Charizard Tera Raid Battle event. Not only is this currently the only way to obtain a Charizard within Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, but successfully defeating it will also award players with several rare rewards.Tera Raids are the primary source of multiplayer action within Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, allowing players to team up with up to three others and take on difficult bosses in the pursuit of rare rewards. Though most raids are randomly generated, a handful of limited-time events have been set up that offer players the chance to capture particularly rare Pokemon. The first of these, the Eevee Tera Raid event, was quite straightforward in terms of difficulty, and allowed players to get their hands on Eeevee with a variety of different tera types. The second raid, however, is a lot more difficult.RELATED: Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Tinkaton Isn't as Effective Against Corviknight as Its Pokedex Entry SuggestsThough not in the Paldean Pokedex, a level 100 Charizard comes to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet as the game's first seven-star raid boss in two events. Though the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Charizard event dates have been public knowledge for some time, as has its dragon tera typing and status as only being catchable once per save file, Serebii has been able to ascertain its movepool and rewards. The unrivaled Charizard comes with its hidden ability, Solar Power, and strong moves in Dragon Pulse, Fire Blast, Hurricane, and Focus Blast. Additional moves it may also use in any given battle include Overheat, Tera Blast (Dragon), Sunny Day, and Inferno. There isn't anything particularly riveting when it comes to rewards, as this unique Charizard is a sizable reward in and of itself, despite being shiny locked. As part of this event, four and five-star Mimikyu and Florges raids will also have a chance to pop up around Paldea.

Guaranteed drops for the Charizard fight in particular include Exp Candy, Calcium, Dragon Tera Shards, the Overheat TM, and an Ability Patch. There are also several items which have anywhere from a 15% to a 1% chance of dropping, the rarest of which being a second ability patch. Though players have been using Iron Hands to solo six star Tera Raids, it is worth noting that this Charizard is not only weak to fairy due to its tera typing, but also has no grass type coverage moves due to it lacking Solar Beam. What this means is that, as some players predicted, an Azumarill with the ability Huge Power seems to be a great candidate for taking on Charizard, being able to maximize its attack with Belly Drum before either hitting it super-effectively with Play Rough.

Many players are glad that the Charizard event is turning out to be not quite as difficult as they had perhaps envisioned, not wanting to rely on working cohesively with players from around the world in what might be their only chance to get a Charizard within Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. For those wanting to get the iconic pocket monster for themselves before the event is over, consider acquiring an Azumarill with Belly Drum.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
