The event is centered around a special version of the FFA Deathmatch, where seven specific heroes have been given special abilities themed around the Greek Gods.

When Is The Overwatch 2 Battle For Olympus Event?

The Battle For Olympus Event kicked off today, January 5, at 2:15PM ET / 7:15PM GMT, and will run through January 19.

As an extra incentive, Blizzard is keeping a keen eye on all players eliminations during the event. The hero who racks up the most kills at the end of the event will get their own statue in the Illios map.

As per the trailer below, the heroes in contention include Junker Queen, Roadhog, Pharah, Lucio, Ramattra, Widowmaker and Reinhardt. Each of these heroes will have their powers themed around the Greek Gods or creatures they represent.

In addition, the event comes with a variety of new special challenges that will allow you to unlock free rewards throughout the event. These free prizes include voice lines, player titles, and an ultimate reward should you work your way through the challenges: A free Legendary Winged Victory Mercy skin.

Additional new Battle Of Olympus cosmetics and bundles are available in the shop as well, which fans can purchase by using Overwatch Coins.

Following the game’s Halloween event, much of the Overwatch 2 community were disappointed in the lack of skins available outside of purchases from the store. It seems Blizzard heard this criticism loud and clear.

As a result, executive producer Jared Neuss made a pledge to fans as it pertained to future events on the Overwatch Blog.

“In Season 2, we’ve changed up our rewards a bit so that each event has a skin you can earn by playing, in addition to the other cosmetic rewards we already offer.”

In short, there’s plenty to look forward to in Overwatch 2, starting with the new arrival of the Battle For Olympus Event.
