Assassin's Creed Valhalla Leaves PS Plus Extra on 20th December

Really disappointed by this, I only just signed up to Extra in the Black Friday sale and this was on my to play list. No point me starting it now as I will never get to the end by the 20th. They need to be much more upfront about when games are removed. I would say three months notice

bit strange considering ps has the ubisoft range on there.

@mariomaster96 i mean in all fairness , you don't actually own the games on ps+ and it was going to leave eventually, not to mention its on sale atm for a pretty good price to own it.

This is kinda good for me in that I've only just started a playthrough, but have already loaded my PSN wallet with cheap credit to buy the Complete Edition next time it's on sale, assuming it's about the £40 mark. I'm unlikely to be anywhere near done with the base game by the time it comes off PS Plus extra, so I'll be getting even more of my money's worth

Well, damned if I'll be rushed into trying to plough through this in the next month. I was curious to try it sometime, but not desperate. Doubt I'll miss it, even if it doesn't ever reappear.

@PhantomMenace84 I've just come into it from finishing AC Oddyssey, so IMO the combat/game systems generally are vastly improved. Especially glad I'm not having to play the whole game of "not levelling up my armour every single time I level up, because that's insane, but levelling up often enough to keep up with the enemies" any more

Very sad news. I'm planning to play it next year, so now I will have to keep an eye on deals...

This is why i don't commit to 3rd party games on Gamepass unless they're indies because of stuff like this.

It didn't really make sense that Valhalla was an Ubisoft+ Classic, but still I didn't expect this. I wonder if this means Ubisoft+ itself will be coming to PlayStation soon.

@WallyWest games on Gamepass tend to stay on the service for at least a year. The only notable exceptions were the R* duo (RDR2 & GTA V). I'm not saying GP is perfect (I let my subscription expire earlier this year) but in this area it seems better.

The only way this makes sense, is if they are planning on selecting it for the next essential's set of free games. Otherwise a strange move considering the Ubisoft+ thing they are doing.

There should be at least 3 month notice. It is common courtesy, specially for such long games.

@Saucymonk maybe if you have nothing to do like job family etc and absolutely blaze only main story, no side quests and on easy mode, which in Valhalla is so stupid may aswell not play.

Was on my list. Don’t think I can finish Ragnarok and then play through this till December 20… Sad

@PhantomMenace84 this game can be more demanding than most JRPGs out there currently, if your time is invested in a game like this you have to buy it outright and not rent it from the service

@WallyWest RPGs should not be out on the service with how much time they demand to complete them

This game is a huge time sink it’s crazy. If you play it in breaks, I guess it’s not bad. But not every single gaming sessions until completion. It’s definitely more improved than the previous two entries but I liked Odysseys mercenaries much better. If you’re craving Vikings or axes though, it’s a must play. Sad to see it go from PS+ but I can always boot up my disc

I believe this is an unfair business.
Wait people engage in games with 150+ hours of gameplay… and then delist the game so you are compelled on buying the game.
I understand the PS+ Extra games you don’t really own the game.. but come on!!
It’s like Netflix listing a 20 seasons series for just some month, not giving any chance to watch it in its completeness.

Sony and publisher are treating PS+Extra like a glorified trial of games, unfortunately.

Doesn’t really make much sense that it’s leaving. The base game now sells for peanuts and that isn’t going to climb.

Whereas the nineteen different DLCs for it probably rake in profit still. I thought that was one of the primary aims of these subscriptions services: give people base games for free when they no longer make much profit in the hope that it ramps up sales of their DLC…?

@themightyant Oops, my bad. Silly me for thinking it would have stayed on there since it's part of Ubisoft+ Classics or whatever. I saw that on my PS5 yesterday and immediately thought of what I told you.

I don't know if it's just coming off of PS Plus Extra or if Ubisoft is removing it on their end.

Pretty sad. That's why I ended up buying it a few months ago. I prefer to play a lot of games if I'm paying a suscription. The long ones I buy them.

Firstly, this is the danger of having your games brought to you by a service that may not even exist tomorrow.

Secondly, this sort of thing gets reported on really weirdly. Not necessarily by this site (since it's this site's job to report on PlayStation-centric news), but it's things like "MAJOR game leaving Plus" where it seems like it going is devaluing the entire service. Never mind the 20+ that went onto the service this month. I'd say Game Pass doesn't have this issue, but they have been known to get some articles to the same effect.

@thiagoauler Its not much different to Gamepass, granted games last longer there but then i can imagine MS pay stupid amounts to make them last longer.

Doesn’t this mean the whole “Ubisoft+ is on PS Plus” thing a sham? It’s not really Ubisoft+ because a Ubisoft game is leaving a Ubisoft subscription portion of PS Plus lol

Even EA doesn’t do that with gamepass, all their games are always on there and never removed.

I am currently 25 hours in and feel like I have a loooong way to go still

@PhantomMenace84 yeah I understand. When I say "I've just finished Oddyssey" what I didn't say is that it took me just over two years to finish it - not of constantly playing Oddysey, obviously - I picked it up, got bored after a bit and then picked it up again a few months later, over and over again.

Out of Origins and Oddysey I'd defintinitely recommend Origins more highly - I'm not knocking the Greeks, but going back to ancient Egypt (even if it's only "kinda ancient Egypt" lol- what you're really going back to is the end of ancient Egypt, around the year 49 BC) is much cooler, and IMO the open world map in Origins is much more managable, in Odyssey it's just bonkers.

But if you still don't really feel like doing either, that's understandable. I loved Origins and managed to play through it without taking months long breaks, but I definitely felt burnt out after getting the platinum and finishing the DLC (the platinum involves visiting every single location on the map and completing the objectives - fortunately the platinum for Oddyssey doesn't have a trophy for this - there are whole areas of Ancient Greece that haven't even been to, despite spending twice as long overall in that game)

For those in the UK you can pick up the game for £16 in asda and £19 on amazon

@thiagoauler yeah exactly, you get my point with this service, I don't think it works very well with games as much with TV shows which can be binged in a few hours

@PhantomMenace84 wow impressive that you were able to play the game in that time, cool 🤨🤨 but for the majority of people who only have a couple of hours a day to play, this game is a gaming nightmare for this service

@SamMR I think he might have brought the microtransactions on the Ubisoft store to speed things up....my suspicions anyways, no feasible way to plat the game in 70 hours, multiple people here are taking months or weeks to complete it, hence my suspicions...🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Completing the main game and getting the platinum took me 135 hours. I dread to think what the total time will be once I’m done with all the DLC.

Game is also cheap with black friday deals. If you really wanna play it you can always buy it.

its more notice than you get with gamepass you generally get 15 days notice on there

@Itachi2099 technically EA games arnt on game pass they are on EAplay which is included with gamepass ultimate

EAplay is available on PlayStation and once games are put on the service roughly a year after release they are hardly ever removed apart from the older sports titles

who would have thought EAplay is probably the best way of doing a subscription service. its cheap, you know games will be put on after roughly a year and they hardly ever leave

Wish they would take it off my personal library as well. That should be standard. When a game leaves PS Plus it also leaves your library. Not sure why it's not like that.

@FierceViper82G All I agree it was all over the place and very little to do with quote on quote Assissens at all. You dident get no creed story till the last story mission. They throu a rest blade on a viking and called it creed. Way to much unessery time wasters in that game it was bloated with unessery ***** just to drag it out. I hope mirage goes back to the ezio trilogy way of story telling and sandbox game play.

@Itachi2099 you can subscribe to ea's game pass thing on ps5. i don't think the ubisoft games were ment to stay on ps+ forever though.

Complete edition is cuurrently £41.29, went on sale at about midnight. It's not an insignificant sum of money but it's easily the best price for the game and all of the DLC. I went ahead and bought it, but I probably wouldn't have decided to if I hadn't already played some of the game on PS Plus, as Oddyssey completely wore me down and I wasn't sure I'd be interested enough

@SamMR about 75 hours. I was tossing around for about half of that though.
