Rumors Point to Diablo IV Preorders Next Month, With a Spring Launch

There’s some new speculation about Diablo IV’s release window, pointing at April as when we might expect the release. Of course, these are rumors, and Blizzard has only committed to 2023 so far.

The speculation comes from statements made on the XboxEra podcast Windows Central. There had been a previous guess, based on a Reddit leak, that Diablo IV would get a big reveal and preorders at next month’s The Game Awards. Now, further confirmation seems to point at those preorders going live the night of that December 8th broadcast.

Yet, now there’s talk of a release window, and this was where the podcast pointed at a launch sometime in April. As for the preorders that may be going live next month, there is talk that among the various editions that are sure to be coming, there may be early access to the open beta. That itself is now rumored to begin in February.

Back in September, the Diablo IV team announced that there would be a closed endgame-only beta, and participants would be selected based on how much time they had previously spent playing high level Diablo III and Diablo II: Resurrected. This announcement emphasized that the full experience was under strict NDA, and that came after there were some alleged alpha leaks.

Regardless, there’s unsurprising anticipation for Diablo IV. These latest rumors aren’t likely to quell that, and they might have the impact of getting folks ready to dedicate some of their cash to this next installment.

Diablo IV will operate on a seasons system, as the team officially announced back in August, saying that the game will adapt Diablo III and Diablo II: Resurrected-style seasons and aim at these as quarterly releases. According to this latest round of speculation, season 1 may not happen until Q3, even if the game does, in fact, release in the spring.
